Ruddy Rose Dragon – #LIOV-EN035
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters – If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can banish all cards from the GYs, then, if this card was Synchro Summoned using “Black Rose Dragon” or a Plant Synchro Monster as material, you can destroy all other cards on the field. When your opponent activates a card or effect that would destroy a card(s) (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card; negate the activation, then you can Special Summon 1 “Black Rose Dragon” from your Extra Deck or GY.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Ruddy Rose Dragon is a new incarnation of the original BRD and wraps up our look at the archetype.
Generic materials like its predecessor, Ruddy has much higher ATK and a higher level, but it still isn’t terribly hard to summon this. Banish both graveyards is a pretty powerful effect with much of the game involving the graveyard than in Black Rose Dragon’s time. Many decks need a functioning graveyard to facilitate plays. Stack that effect on top of the original Black Rose Dragon’s effect when using Black Rose or a Plant Synchro and you could be cutting down your opponents options to almost none. At Level 10, Ruddy using Black Rose (Level 7) or a Plant Synchro (Levels range low-high) is highly possible, more so if you use a Plant Synchro. You aren’t going to give up Black Rose Dragon’s effect to clear the field just for this. Now if you Special Summon Black Rose with something like Basel Rose Shoot then I can see it being used, but it’s most likely a Plant Synchro alongside a “Rose Dragon” Main Deck monster, meaning your Plant Synchro will have to be either a Level 6 or 7 unless combined with other monster(s).
Pop itself to negate a destruction effect and replace itself with a Black Rose Dragon is a +1 in your favor. It would’ve been far better for the archetype had it been considered a Synchro Summon if done from the Extra Deck, but I suppose that would’ve been too overpowered. You are still negating a destruction effect and replacing your tribute with another monster with pretty high ATK.
Ruddy Rose Dragon is a great successor to Black Rose Dragon. We’ve had some other successors to the original that have not cut it in terms of power or playability, but Ruddy is different. Within its own archetype utilizing the “Rose Dragon” Main Deck monsters it could be a formidable card, but if played outside its archetype it could still be a solid weapon against grave-based strategies.

The week ends off with the evolution for Black Rose Dragon in the new Ruddy Rose Dragon.
Ruddy Rose is a Level 10 FIRE Dragon Synchro with 3200 ATK and 2400 DEF. Pretty good stats overall, plus that same combo from yesterday which is fun. Again, a generic Synchro of any Tuner and any non-Tuner(s), just a little harder on a Level 10, but certainly feasible. If this card is Synchro Summoned, if makes sure we don’t miss timing, you can banish every card in the graveyards, then if you used Black Rose Dragon or any Plant Synchro to summon this, you can destroy every other card on the field. The graveyard wipe is interesting on a generic Level 10. I don’t know how good it is in Rose Dragons since you want your monsters in grave, but you have to sacrifice the graveyard if you want the field nuke. At least this nuke keeps your Ruddy Rose Dragon on the field. I’m sure the banish is better as a generic Synchro, but I’m sure you will use it in Rose Dragons if you need the nuke that bad. The other effect lets you tribute this card as a Quick Effect to negate a card or effect that would destroy a card, then you can Special Summon a Black Rose Dragon from the Extra Deck or graveyard. You’d probably prefer to summon from grave since a Black Rose Dragon in the Extra Deck is better to Synchro Summon for the field nuke. It’s basically a Stardust Dragon effect here, just instead you get a weaker monster immediately instead of waiting for the monster that tributed itself to come back in the End Phase. It’s a useful effect still to protect a board and it can be revived with Garden Rose Maiden at least, or she can revive any Dragon Synchro you used to summon this to begin with. Ruddy Rose is a fine evolution to Black Rose Dragon. The graveyard banish is interesting and the Stardust Dragon effect is still fine in 2021.

Art: 5/5 Kind of a small recolor for Black Rose and it bloomed a bit more, I like it just as well.

Closing our week is another Synchro Rose, this time being Ruddy Rose. RRD is a Level 10 Synchro, Fire/Dragon still, with 3200 attack (yay!) and 2400 defense. Synchro Summon still generic being a Tuner and 1+ non-Tuner Monsters. This card has a fair amount of text, but it’s an upgrade, of varying opinions, or Black Rose Dragon. Retrain without being a retrain? Anyway, a Synchro Summon gives you the option to remove all cards from both Graves from play. Grave removal, on THIS level, aside from the occasional full blow DD and Macrocosm Decks, don’t really exist. Full Grave removals can be crippling to both players. That’s a skill that needs to 1-not matter because you’re winning that Turn, 2-be something you’re skillful enough to play around if it bites you in the ass, and 3-needs probably as much luck as well. If you used BRD or a Plant Synchro to Synchro this card, you can also clear the Field, save this card. So then, on top of no Grave, and no Field, assuming that Effect wasn’t negated or anything else, you’ve got 3200 points of Damage coming your way. OR MORE (Normal Summon, other Special Summons, etc. etc.). A Quick Effect lets you Tribute this card when your opponent activates an Card or Effect to destroy a Card(s) on the Field to negate said activation, and Special Summon BRD from your Extra Deck or Grave. Replenishing yourself is always good, and you get a great card in return should you not win that Turn. This is a very wild card, one with potential to win games, but maybe as much potential to lose you a game. Options (on this card) are important. Play smart, win smart!

Art: 4.75/5 I like the background art here a little better than BRD, but the slightly brighter shade of Ruddy makes this super pretty too.
