Sangenpai Transcendant Dragion – #LEDE-EN040
1 Dragon Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner Dragon monsters
All monsters your opponent controls must attack, if able. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects during the Battle Phase. If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can change all monsters on the field to Attack Position. If 3 or more attacks have been declared this turn (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card from your GY, then you can destroy 1 card on the field. You can only use this effect of “Sangenpai Transcendent Dragion” once per Duel.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Sangenpai Transcendent Dragion is the last card we’ll look at for Tenpai week and is as important to the OTK strategy as Trident Dragon is.
Level 10 Dragon Synchro that needs all Dragon monsters to be summoned, Sangenpai is made 9 times out of 10 with Bident Dragon and Chundra during the Battle Phase to continue the OTK, however, you may make it using another Level 7 Dragon that you decided to make in the Battle Phase. Forcing the opponent to attack it using all their monsters normally wouldn’t be that much of a problem, because you’d destroy it before entering the Battle Phase. However, with Sangen Summoning protecting your FIRE Dragon monsters during the Main Phase 1, your opponent will have to battle them. In addition to that, you have the ability to make this during the Battle Phase of either turn, almost guaranteeing your opponent will have to battle your Sangenpai. Changing the battle position of all monsters on the field to Attack Position upon Synchro Summoning enables OTK potential if your opponent was walling up, and if you have your smaller Tenpai monsters on the field they aren’t dying in battle and you’re not taking damage.
Like Bident Dragon, if Sangenpai is in the grave and you’ve attempted three attacks during the Battle Phase, Sangenpai is bringing itself back and popping a card on the field if you want. Here is where Sangen Summoning dies and doubles the attack of either Trident Dragon or Sangenpai Transcendent Dragon. Even if you had to destroy Sangenpai with Trident, you are likely just bringing it back because at that point you’ve gotten three attacks in during the Battle Phase. This effect is a once per duel, so keep that in mind if your OTK attempt fails. Despite that, you should have a few copies in the Extra Deck and can reliably make another copy. Also, there’s nothing stopping you from destroying a card on your opponent’s field with Sangenpai.
In the archetype it is lethal. Outside the archetype within a deck that runs dragon monsters it can still be very useful and can still be able to Special Summon itself. It forces your opponent to attack it, and 3000ATK stands pretty good in the game, especially when combined with the lockout of effects in the Battle Phase. Great monster for Dragon users and incredible for this archetype that lives and dies in the Battle Phase and loves going second.

We end the week off with the big Dragon boss for the Sangen/Tenpai Dragon archetype that isn’t Trident Dragion: Sangenpai Transcendent Dragion.
Transcendent Dragion is a Level 10 FIRE Dragon Synchro with 3000 ATK and DEF. A fairly good stat line, plus we remain FIRE Dragon. Materials are any Dragon Tuner and any Dragon non-Tuner(s), so really dedicated to Tenpai Dragons. All your opponent’s monsters must attack if able, which likely won’t matter since summoning this should mean you’re OTKing on the spot. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects during the Battle Phase, so if they haven’t done anything yet, they sure won’t be when this hits the field. Upon being Synchro Summoned, you can switch all the opponent’s monsters to Attack Position, so if you were just running into high DEF monsters, you can finally get them to Attack Position to do damage. Final effect triggers if 3 or more attacks have been declared this turn, giving you a Quick Effect option to revive this and destroy a card on the field, which goes well when you destroy this with Trident Dragion, getting this back and clearing out anything that could maybe stop you from doing enough damage, but I’m sure you were doing enough whether you destroy a card or not with this. It’s a hard once per Duel to revive this, but it should really be all you need in a Deck that can do over 30,000 damage in a single Battle Phase. You only really need 1 of this for the OTK, but it’s very helpful for finishing the game, so it’s kind of a mandiatory 1-of.

Tenpai’s official boss monster is technically not a Tenpai monster, but Sangen is Tenpai all the same; wrapping up the week is Sangenpai Transcendent Dragion, a level 10 FIRE Dragon Synchro monster. It’ll take a Dragon Tuner and any non-Tuner Dragon monsters like its predecessor, Trident Dragion, so you can make it easily with either all three main deck Tenpai monsters, or Sangenpai Bident Dragion and any of the level 3 Tenpai monsters. Transcendent Dragion boasts a clean 3000 attack and defense, which is admittedly a tad low for a beatdown archetype, but that’s why we have Sangen Summoning!
While Transcendant Dragion is on the field, your opponent can’t activate cards or effects during the Battle Phase (pairing well with Sangen Summoning’s protection during the Main Phase) and it’ll force your opponent’s monsters to attack if able. That goes right into Transcendent Dragion’s (not once per turn) effect that triggers if it’s Synchro Summoned, changing all of your opponent’s monsters to Attack Position. The idea is to wait for your opponent to be stupid enough to enter the Battle Phase with weak monsters, then Quick Synchro Summon Transcendent Dragion and force your opponent to attack it, hopefully depleting their Life Points in the process. Currently, this strategy isn’t all that smart because a plethora of things can go wrong, but when Tenpai gets its new Trap in Infinite Forbidden, it can be a valid cheese strategy for going first. Transcendent Dragion’s more important effect is its final effect, a once per duel Quick Effect that can be used as long as three or more attacks have been declared that turn, letting you revive Transcendent Dragion from the Graveyard then optionally destroy one card on the field. This is supposed to help you destroy Sangen Summoning and boost Transcendent Dragion to 6000 attack, though you’ll probably only really use the revival for extra damage because Trident Dragion is a much more effective user of Sangen Summoning’s attack buff. Transcendant Dragion’s last effect being once per duel is pretty odd, but I get it since Tenapi is designed to be a glass cannon archetype– if you fail to OTK, you’re dead! Transcendent Dragion isn’t as strong for the win condition as Trident Dragion, but you’ll still run it anyway for utility and if you decide to play the pseudo-FTK.
+Almost perfect Battle Phase protection
+Can cheese with a pseudo-FTK with the new Sangen Trap
-Might be more efficient to summon Trident Dragion first in some scenarios
-Revival effect is oddly once per duel
