Since I’m a dyed-in-the-wool Timmy, Draco is one of the Invasion block cards that made the most impression on me, and thus I was surprised to find that he doesn’t appear in any of the official novels. Still, this card proves that he made a lasting impression on Dominaria, and he may end up making one on your casual tables too. He’s very expensive to play if you’re not in five-color and he depends on having other creatures in play, which is not a common trait for a reanimator target. Even so, giving your creatures a whole bunch of new abilities will instantly turn up the challenge for most opponents (not to mention the complexity of the table state!). You can also take the angle of using creatures with as many colors as possible to make a bunch of mini-Akromas, and perhaps teach people to fear Fusion Elemental!

A 12-mana 4/4? Scion of Draco is unlikely to ever cost 12 mana, thanks to domain pulling its mana cost down all the way to 2, and it’s not unreasonable to (in a deck with lots of nonbasic lands with basic land types) get him out on turn 3 or 4 (or, in a miracle case, turn 2). Its ability is pretty interesting, offering a buff to all of your creatures in a particular color, and it can really empower creatures with lots of colors about them. That said, Scion of Draco is a fairly fragile body that doesn’t protect itself, and it’s an easy pinch point to weakening an army. There’s still some intrigue to be had, and I think it’s a fun card to mess around with.
Constructed: 2.25 (unless this drops on turn 2 consistently, I doubt it gets there)
Casual: 3.5
Limited: 3 (hard to make it cost a reasonable amount, but flying can get you there)
Multiplayer: 3.25
Commander: 3.5
