Hello Pojo Fans,

Secrets of Dark Magic is the kind of Quick-Play Dark Magician have been waiting for.

Quick-Play as previously mentioned, a Fusion or Ritual Spell all in one that can be searched by Dark Magician support has been sorely needed. Fusion or Ritual Summon using “Dark Magician” or “Dark Magician Girl” works with the archetype. There are plenty of Fusion Monster targets for DM and DMG, and with Illusion of Chaos now in the game you have a Ritual Monster that you are likely playing at least one of in a dedicated Dark Magician deck. While it may not be fantastic to have to use “Dark Magician” or “Dark Magician Girl” in the Ritual Summon, it essentially means you’re trading Dark Magician for his ritual form and that isn’t a bad thing (even though Illusion of Chaos is better used for its discard).

More searchable and more synergy than any “Poly” or “Fusion” card in the game for Dark Magician, you are running at least one of these in a deck running the most famous Spellcaster in the game. Even if you use it for the Fusion Summon, you are using this card.

The week ends off with one of the more recent support cards for Dark Magician: Secrets of Dark Magic.

Secrets of Dark Magic is a Quick-Play Spell that lets you either Fusion Summon a monster from the Extra Deck using monsters from your hand or field, including Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl as Fusion Material, or you get to Ritual Summon a Ritual from your hand by tributing monsters from your hand or field whose Levels equal or exceed the Ritual’s, but you must tribute Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl. So since The Eye of Timaeus isn’t searchable, at least we got a Fusion Spell you can search in the Dark Magician strategy, but it does require the Fusion Material to be ran, which isn’t the worst thing in the world with Fusion Substitutes. This also being a Ritual Spell does offer versatility, especially summoning any Ritual, but you’re likely still only using Dark Magician related Rituals and you already have Chaos Form if you needed Rituals that bad. It’s a fine card still, having the option to either Fusion or Ritual Summon is decent in Dark Magician, just wouldn’t say it’s mandatory still.

Art: 4/5 Swirls and the Ritual stuff you expect, looks fine together, especially with the Dark Magical Circle at top.

The week ends on more (Dark) Magician support, here, in a Quickplay to assist in your DM/DMG Ritual or Fusion Summoning.  You literally have the choice of Fusion or Ritual Summoning here, using DM or DMG (not both) as Material.  Said Monster comes from the Extra Deck (so no Graveyard shenanigans) and Hand or Field are the Material pool for either choice.  Quickplay here helps a lot, and the only actual condition is you have to hold or control DM or DMG, which still leaves you plenty of options.  Given the new support in form of the Chaos Max and Form cards, this may not be the most viable option, if you’re using it at all.  As far as cards go, it was made to be fair, which it is, while still being as open as it can to have its condition to be met, and I can respect that about the card.

Art:  4/5  Now the color scheme, especially in the top half, is really awesome.  The Magician seal is present, as are the staffs below.  It’s not flashy, but it’s pretty enough to be cool.

The week finishes with yet another Dark Magician card, Secrets of Dark Magic, a quick play spell that’s a fusion spell and a ritual spell rolled into one card. You can either fusion summon a monster using monsters from your hand or field, or ritual summon a monster from your hand using monsters from your hand or field that equal or exceed the ritual monster’s level. The only caveat is you’ll have to use either Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl as one of the fusion or ritual materials, so this card is pretty much limited to Dark Magician decks despite its generic application; fortunately, between Magician’s Rod and Illusion of Chaos, searching it should be pretty easy. Clearly, you’re meant to access the entire menagerie of Dark Magician fusion and ritual monsters, with good choices being Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, The Dark Magicians, Master of Chaos, and Magician of Chaos, though keep in mind you’ll still need other fusion components so you can’t just use one Dark Magician like with Eye of Timaeus. Being a quick play spell, you can technically use it on your opponent’s turn to dodge cards like Dark Ruler No More or take advantage of the effect of The Dark Magicians, though summoning Guardian Chimera is also a funny tech to consider. Overall while it doesn’t really do anything big for Dark Magician decks, it does make them a bit more versatile.
