Today we look at a pretty big card, "Titanic Summons." Zeke(Hao) is on is standing on Spirit of Fire. He looks alot older than he is in the anime, but that's ok. Zeke (Hao) fans will still come to his call, no matter how old he is.

This uncommon guardian strike has a very cheap card cost of 1 green and 1 red furyoku. His effect could increase how much furyoku is spent on this card, but we will get to that later. "Titanic Summons" has a huge intercept of 7. That alone will stop alot of strikes, as it is above the golden 5. Next his force is just a 4. It's not horrible, but your opponent will most likely counterattack against it.

At the cost 2 yellow furyoku you can use the following effect; "+2 Intercept, +2 Force. Use only once." You'll power up that 7 intercept up to a 9. You'll hardly ever need to get up that high, but if you get this card at the right time it will help you alot. Most decks don't run crazy high intercept, like 9. Also the effect brings the decent 4 force up to a powerful 6 force. Paying 2 extra yellow furyoku makes this card have a very heavy cost.

The heavy cost makes this card not very playable, when you use the effect. This card playable without the effect, though. I think it will be very rough playing this in Sealed, but can be useful in Casual and Tournaments.

Casual: 4/5
Tournament: 4/5
Sealed: 3/5

Blank Zero

Name: Titanic Summons
Number: REI_080
Cost (G/Y/R): 1/0/1
Type: Strike
Stats: 7/4
Rarity: Uncommon
Trait: Guardian
Text: "Two Yellow --> +2 Intercept,+2 Force. Use only once."
Flavor Text: "Yoh, where is your competitive greatness?"

As I found out from Andy's review on Monday, the theme is actually Guardian strikes hat have stat-boosting abilities. Although random Guardian strikes was a secondary theme choice.

This card rocks because:
-It has very solid stats.
-It is one of few strikes that have the elusive 9 intercept.
-Relatively low cost, without the effect.
-With the effect, this card becomes insanely good.

7/4 is a very solid stat build. It has a very high intercept of 7, with a non-punishable (but still pretty weak) force of 4.

Once you tack the effect onto it, it has an above-average force of 6, and a gigantic, often uneccessary, intercept of 9, making it one of very few cards with that intercept.

One green and one red is roughly equivalent to two yellow, the cost of Razor's Edge with the effect. That means that the stats are pretty much worth the cost, even ignoring the effect of this card.

This card sucks because:
-The effect makes it extremely expensive.
-It's traited to Guardian shaman.

Two yellow for the effect effectively gives this card the cost of Unerring Garrote, which as we all learned in kindergarten, is the most expensive non-spectergram card in the first set. That means it's expensive, for those of you who didn't gather as much with your small brains.

And of course, it's traited to guardian shaman, so you can't run it in your Matti deck like you wanted to. Poor baby.

DANGER! Kids, don't try these combos at home:

I have a really good one here: Conviction. With Conviction in play, this card can potentially become a 7/8. That's right on par with a No Quartered Smoldering Confidence. Monstrous stats that are really hard for the opponent to break or block.

No Quarter is also effective, potentially making this a 6/9, which is almost a godly strike, as far as stats go.

And playing this card in a Joco zone can give it the same cost as Burning Hunger, for a much better overall result. And because Yoh teamworks + Guardian strikes = Jun, it's probably best to mention that any of the Body-type advantages work very well here. As they always do.

Summary:

Much better than Monday's card. It starts off with really solid stats, and has the potential to become a very impressive attack. It fits in with the high-intercept theme of most Guardian decks, and often, it has intercept to spare for your random intercept-abusing advantage or teamwork.

Rating:

Constructed: 4/5
Sealed: 3/5
