Hello Pojo Fans,

Speedroid Marble Machine is a Throwback Thursday choice for the week and isn’t too old of a choice.

Another Pendulum Monster for Speedroid, Marble Machine as a Pendulum Spell can protect one of your Defense Position monsters from being destroyed by battle this turn by turning it to face-up Attack Position. Slight double-edged sword here, as you’ll take all the LP damage and if your opponent has a full field it may end up being an OTK because Speedroids aren’t known for their high ATK. If you need that monster though it is worth the damage if it is going to keep you in the game or win it for you.

As a monster, Marble Machine can search out a Speedroid monster upon Normal Summon…was waiting for when we’d see that kind of a searcher when covering this archetype. Another small monster to Machine Duplication as well after your search. With many ways of Special Summoning, Marble Machine is a recover monster, utilizing your Normal Summon as a search option. You can search any Speedroid monster, and as a Level 2, it is a one-card Level 5 Synchro Summon in this archetype if you search CarTurbo with Marble Machine.

Good searcher monster that can start the Synchro Summoning spam, and as a Pendulum Spell it can save anything you’ve got in defense. With a scale of 1 it is useful as a starting point for your Pendulum Summoning, but I feel it is better as a monster.

Throwback Thursday this week gives us the only Pendulum that Speedroids ran before the new support (not counting Clear Wing Fast Dragon in the Extra Deck): Speedroid Marble Machine.

Speedroid Marble Machine as a Pendulum Scale is a Scale 1 where once per turn if a Defense Position monster you control is targeted for an attack, you can change it to Attack Position and not have it be able to be destroyed in battle that turn, even if this leaves the field. Not a great effect, but I guess it keeps monsters safe from destruction in battle if you put them into Defense Position to keep them safe from Lightning Storm. I don’t imagine this entering the Scale often unless Colonel Clackers puts it there and you want to Pendulum Summon in Speedroids.

Marble Machine as a monster is a Level 2 WIND Machine with 200 ATK and 100 DEF. Not impressive stats, but when Normal Summoned, this lets you add a Speedroid monster from your Deck to your hand, but you cannot Special Summon for the rest of the turn except for WIND monsters. It’s a secondary searcher for Speedroids on summon to get their combos started, and while it isn’t as good as Terrortop, it was nice to have when Terrortop was put to 1 so Speedroids can still have consistent searches. The WIND lock keeps you to Speedroids, which you were likely doing anyway, so it only stops generic Synchro options. HOPT on the search, since Speedroids can get a second Normal Summon, and searching off Terrortop and then this can be very strong. Marble Machine is still one of your starters for the Deck for searching for the combo pieces you need. It could have not been a Pendulum and its playability wouldn’t have been affected, but I guess it’s nice with new support now.

Formerly the only important Speedroid Pendulum monster, Throwback Thursday brings us the wonderful Speedroid Marble Machine, a level 2 WIND Machine Pendulum monster. It has an excellent scale of 1, which goes great with Speedroid Colonel Clackers, though you’ll almost never be setting it as a Pendulum card for reasons we’ll get into. Much like most Main Deck Speedroids, Marble Machine’s stats are a pathetic 200 attack and 100 defense, so you better hope it doesn’t stay on the field for too long.

Marble Machine’s Pendulum effect, frankly, might as well be blank; it’s a soft once per turn effect that triggers if one of your Defense position monsters is targeted for an attack, letting you switch it to Attack position then make it indestructible by battle that turn. In a pinch, it can save a key monster that happens to be stuck in defense for some reason, but you will basically never use this because Marble Machine’s monster effect is way more useful, plus if your Speedroid combo goes off, your Clear Wing boss monsters are practically invincible in battle anyway. Boo!

In contrast, Marble Machine’s single hard once per turn monster effect is extremely useful. It triggers on Normal Summon to search any Speedroid, naturally locking you into Special Summoning WIND monsters for the rest of the turn. Speedroid has a very odd fixation with Normal Summoning, which I guess is why they made Hi-Speedroid Rubber Band Shooter, but the good news is Marble Machine is still an excellent card. Depending on the combo route, you’ll usually be searching either Speedroid Taketomborg to access your Tuners or Colonel Clackers to bring out Speedroid Wing Synchron and set your Pendulum scales. Unfortunately you won’t be able to Pendulum Summon Marble Machine because of Wing Synchron’s scale of 4– otherwise you’d have some crazy combo potential. A favored starting combo of mine is to search Taketomborg, summon Speedroid Red-Eyed Dice, then go into Hi-Speedroid Cork Blaster to search Speedroid Scratch (hope you have fodder to discard!). Not much else to say about Marble Machine, the search alone is worth playing it at 3.

+2 card combo starter and great extender with Rubber Band Shooter
+Can Pendulum Summon in emergencies
-Search only triggers on Normal Summon
-Nigh useless Pendulum effect
