Spell Power Mastery – Yu-Gi-Oh! Review

Spell Power Mastery

Spell Power Mastery
– #SR08-EN022

Add 1 “Endymion” card from your Deck to your hand, then you can place as many Spell Counters as possible on cards you control that you can place a Spell Counter on, up to the number of “Spell Power Mastery” and “Spell Power Grasp” you control and in your GY. You can only activate 1 “Spell Power Mastery” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

With the new Endymion support out it was imperative that they got a searcher card that would be their RoTA.

Spell Power Mastery is that card. Get an “Endymion” card from your Deck to your hand. That alone would be great for the archetype, but then it goes beyond. EVERY card you can put a spell counter on that you control gets one. If a card gains a counter(s) when a spell is played, it is getting at least two. This card is the successor to Spell Power Grasp and it is indeed better than that. Not much else to say about it other than to swap out your Spell Power Grasp for Spell Power Mastery, because you will be playing Endymion cards and cards you put counters on.

Every good archetype has a good searcher. Spell Power Mastery is an excellent, free, once per turn, searcher. You can search any 1 Endymion card and then put Spell Counters on every card you control that can hold Spell Counters. If it was just 1 Spell Counter that would be fine, but you get to put a maximum of 6 depending on the number of Spell Power Mastery and Spell Power Grasp in your grave and in your control. Now you might not be playing Spell Power Grasp anymore, but the even just the 3 (mandatory) Spell Power Mastery will really help the deck. Even if the effect is negated, cards that get a Spell Counter from Spell activations will still get that one Spell Counter. Spell Power Mastery is what I would call the deck just because this card is that good. It’s beautiful too.

Next up is a card every archetype wants, a searcher, so here is Spell Power Mastery.

Spell Power Mastery is a Normal Spell that searches for any Endymion card upon activation, and then afterwards you can place Spell Counters on cards you control that you can place a Spell Counter on for each Spell Power Mastery or Spell Power Grasp that you control or is in the graveyard. So the first activation of this can put 2 Spell Counters on some Spell Counter related cards while the others gain their typical one, and that’s upon the first activation, as the more Mastery or Grasp that you use, you can place more counters on more cards. Spell Power Grasp is a card that isn’t terrible, but it isn’t a card that is required to play Spell Counter decks I feel, even with this being around. The search it gives you is amazing, which makes it fitting this card doesn’t have Endymion in the name, but you got all the Pendulum Monsters to search along with the original Endymion, the old Field Spell, and a new Continuous Spell. This card is perfect for that hard once per turn clause and it has it, as it should. Spell Power Mastery is another card you max out on for Endymion builds as it gets you to said Endymion cards.

This card, while not as complicated as what we opened the week with, is every bit as focal for the theme involving your Spell Counters, and here we are with Spell Power Mastery.  First, you’ll note this card searches, specifically, any Endymion card from your Deck to your Hand–for FREE.  Immediately, we like that, and the options involved there with that.

As for the Counters, you get one per applicable card for every one of these you control, to also include Spell Power Grasp, and to further included that exist in your Graveyard.  This is naturally, all too easy to abuse, and with the criteria for how many Counters you can get, the one activation a turn is incredibly warranted, in my opinion.  This only gets better later in the game for you as well.  It’s great for the theme with LOTS of speed.

Art:  5/5  THIS is a picture.  I believe that’s Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior, and there’s plenty of darkness in this picture.  The Magician circle above him is great, as is all the debris in the bottom of this picture.
