David Fanany Player since 1995 I know that Two-Headed Giant is often considered a rather obscure format – it’s certainly well off the radar of a lot of more competitive players and even some “hardcore casuals”, the type who devote a lot of time to deck development and card acquisition for Commander or Old School or the like. And yet, Battlebond has so many cards in it that interact with large card pool formats that it’s getting downright frightening. Spellseeker is one of those cards, because even though it looks fragile and narrow and EDH is built specifically to make things that cost more than two mana better than those that cost less, many of the best instants and sorceries of all time are in its range. Vintage, for example, has a list of staples that includes Swords to Plowshares, Hurkyl’s Recall, Duress, Regrowth, and Lightning Bolt. This card could easily be one of the sleeper hits of the expansion – do not miss out, and test it wherever you can. Constructed: 4/5 |

Tutoring effects are always powerful, and Spellseeker is a rather nifty one to have at your disposal. You get to go looking for an instant or sorcery with a mana cost of 2 or less, and it turns out that there are a healthy number of those with impact, ranging from removal to bounce to card advantage to even counterspells. The 1/1 body isn’t ideal (though it can sometimes pair well with the likes of Reveillark), but the effect is more than worth it, and Spellseeker is likely to make a couple of appearances in Legacy as a toolbox creature with a potent effect.
