Today's piece is my second leading piece for 'best
fig to ever be ruined by a CE' (Aayla being #1). He
is a great piece, but the CE just kills his
potential a thousand fold.
Stat-wise he is a good Jedi all the way around and
is pretty much the last fig before hitting the Uber
Jedi of Yoda and Windu. Force 5 gives him a lot of
chances to use his 1FP costed abilities. Deflect is
one of the two great defensive abilities. Heal 20 is
something you won't use often, but in rare cases it
does come in handy. How he ended up with heal though
is beyond me. Lastly, Lightsaber assault, to me
anyway, is one of the greatest force powers in the
game. It really extends the threat range of a
character.
In the end, Obi-Wan is a great piece. His big
problem though is that he cant partake of the great
CE's that are out there. He doesn't get CS Yoda's CE
to reroll the deflects, nor does he get triple
attack from Gen Windu. His CE is good in that it
makes Anakin, Jedi Knight very powerful, but when
they could have done this with synergy instead of a
CE, it ends up being absolutely horrid. In the
earlier days of the game Ani, Obi and Aayla actually
made a very good team, but anymore, you have to max
out synergy to have a good squad.
100pts: Here he is playable, but you won't do as
well against the tier 1 squads. If you try him here,
you will do well to use Ani with him.
150pts: Here he is better. You can bring in some
help for him. The Obi/Ani/Aayla squad is still a
good squad if you fill it out right, but it won't be
as powerful as it once was.
200pts: Here he can be effectively fielded, but in
many ways he lends himself to running a stand alone
Jedi squad where you go for Jedi power over any real
synergy between pieces. Each is kind of an island
unto themselves. The basic synergy is in the sheer
number of HP you can fit in. He is a great piece
ruined by a horrid CE.
