Force Immunity; poison +10; Spit Poison 20; Stealth;
Thud Bug
CE: Vong allies within 6 squares gain poison +10 and
Spit Poison 20
Today we do a valiant attempt at fixing Vong. Stat
wise Yomin really isn't anything special, but then
again what vong is. At least he has 60 HP. he is
basically another Vong with thud bug, force immunity
and stealth.
What Yomin brings to the Vong, both within himself
and as a CE is poison +10 and spit poison 20. The
poison ability is rather pointless. We have yet to
see a Vong that has the ability to effectively
attack anyone, so it will go largely unused. The
spit poison 20 is nothing different than grenades
that can't be rerolled with force points. It is an
okay ability, but it isn't enough to make the Vong
any better.
The HUGE drawback to this is that not only is it a
CE, but it has a range 6 qualifier. The disruptive
characters that hurt the Ithorian commander squads
just kills the Vong as well. If you could camp Yomin
in back somewhere, via Mas or unlimited range CE
then he might be good, but the Vong have such weak
attacks that it is no big deal to run around figures
to get at the commanders. Once the commanders go
down, the squad is as ineffective as they have been.
100pts: nope. Way too weak here.
150/200pts: Here he can be played, but he won't do
much good outside of a Nom bomb squad. He just gets
picked off too easily. So many people have tried to
play the new vong, but they just don't work yet in a
serious environment. Yomin can do better in a more
relaxed play structure, but the range 6 and
disruptive are just too much normally.
