Loda, as they are usually called, is quite a
interesting piece. There are some definite
weaknesses to the piece, but many of their force
powers compensate for them nicely.
Stats are usually a bit misleading when you get to
the high point cost characters. 150HP is very good
and puts Loda among the elite in HP. The 20 DEF
isn't very good for 70pts, but it will work well
enough. The +13ATK is also a bit low. Most of the
upper Jedi he will be rolling with less than 50%
chance of hitting.
Twin attack is an interesting choice. It allows Loda
to move and always get two attacks off. Extending
his range with either force points or Han in
stormtrooper armor gives him some very nice range.
Loda's force points are staggering. Not only is he
starting with three force points, but he has force
renewal 3! No other Jedi has a higher renewal. Not
only that, but Loda has master of the force 3 as
well, so that really helps with his speed and
rerolling missed attacks. He has force points and
you can spend them freely. Loda has reflect. I think
this is one of the worst force powers in the game.
It costs two FP and you have a 50/50 chance of doing
10 DAM if you hit the 50/50 chance of making your
save. Bad and expensive odds. Loda, however, has
enough force points that you can spend the reflect
points and afford a couple rerolls. the 10 DAM is
still irrelevant unless you are facing grunts. Then
it becomes golden.
Per Yoda of Dagobah, Loda carries over both force
stun and Yoda's force defense. They can really shut
down any force users that have to close within six.
Loda can twin and then run around stunning people.
The last power that Loda has force push three. Its a
pretty nice way to dish out 30 DAM to a group of
characters and then push them away. Its not as
feared or as potent as Kota's FP50, but it can make
an opponent be cautious.
Loda is one massive amount of force points, but he
may not be worth all he is cracked up to be. First
of all he is 70 points that can only do 40 DAM a
turn and has no CE to help others in the squad.
Reflect is nice against shooters until Thrawn enters
the picture. Loda also has no way to stop a
naturally aggressive Jedi. Sure they can stop force
powers, but they are helpless against triple
attackers and natural big swingers like Bane, Vader
and Shaak Ti. Loda is powerful, no doubt there, but
he may not quite be worth his points in most
formats.
100pts: I would not run him here. Bane and the other
big Jedi of the 100pt realm will eat right through
Loda. It would be one thing if Loda could return the
damage, but 40 a round is not going to do it.
150pts: Here he can begin to see play. I am not sure
how effective he will be. He is good, but being just
under a third of your squad and only causing 40 DAM
and no CE can hurt. Team him up with Han rogue to
negate initiative manipulation by your opponent, and
with a few lucky initiative rolls, you could stun
your way to victory.
200pts: Loda will be at their best here. You can
bring lots of help to make up for the loss of damage
from Loda. Don't get me wrong. he is good and can
really be a pain to your opponent when he runs
around stunning pieces and then twinning them. Any
Han can help him as can Princess. Enjoy trying to
run him. i just don't know that he will make the
grade as a top meta piece.

Force Alter (Force 1: range 6; any 1 enemy rerolls

turn: range 6; target living enemy is considered
activated this round; save 11)
Force Push 3 (Force 3, replaces turn: range 6; 30
damage to target and to each character adjacent to
that target, and push back target and each character
adjacent to that target 3 squares if Huge or
smaller)
Lightsaber Reflect (Force 2: When hit by a nonmelee
attack, this character takes no damage with a save
of 11 and the attacker takes 10 damage, save 11)
This is a very big character in star wars minis.
With a cost of 70 points I think that this character
can be a potentially great piece. THe only stat that
I don't like about this character is its attack. he
has twin attack but only has +13 attack. this is
terrible for a 70 point piece. This characters
strengths do not lie directly with his attack
though. He has a massive amount of force and powers
to use it with. With force renewal 3 he will have
massive amounts of force be the time he gets to the
battle. Yoda teaches luke to reflect and help with
his nomelee combatants and when he gets close he can
stun and attack. this will be a pain against
beatsticks. he can stun 3 times a turn with his
renewal and still attack. If he wanted to attack
those characters he could push them each turn.
100 5/5 a very good piece that can take out
beatsticks. He may have trouble against swarms.
150 4/5 gets a little less effective the points go
up he cannot deal with swarms.
200 3/5 there are too many other pieces. He will get
murdered by shooters before he reaches the opposing
army

Hello again fellow sentients! Stilla back on Pojo to
review a well rounded piece that will give alot of
players a big headache. Loda, as he is affectionatly
called, is a piece I don't like to see across the
board from me. Think of it this way, All the force
potential of Yoda with the added melee strength of
Luke Skywalker. Yoda of Dagobah was a pain at the
best of times. A saving grace for me was that he
didn't have an attack rating. This one does. Its
Twin to boot.
First off the stats. The cost of 70 is a little more
than I like to spend on a single fig, but this one
is worth it for what he can do. 150 hit points can
take a decent pounding before going down. Defence of
20 is terrible for a 70 point miniature. point
blank. This drawback is made up for by his force
powers. The attack of 13 also stinks. If this fig
had high stats, there would be no stopping him.
The reason you will play Loda is for his force
powers. Renewal 3 is just plain sick. This is the
only fig up to this point that has it. He is going
to need them all to use his powers effectively. More
on that in a minute. Alter can get you out of
critical hits when they happen. Force Defence will
let you stop little things like Sith Rages, Force
Pushes, Lightsaber Assaults, and all that good
stuff. I want to try to get him close enough to
cancel a Deflect roll when one of my shooters hit.
Anyone who has played against Yoda of Dagobah knows
what a pain MotF 3 is when a fig has Stun. Even if
they miss the roll, they can do it 2 more times or
re-roll. Since stunning doesn't replace attacks, you
can get your twin off without the danger of counter
attack. I can not say enough about Stunning multiple
times. If there is one power that drives me up the
wall when I face figs with MotF, it's Stun.
Lightsaber Reflect costs alot to use, is not worth
the force points, and rarely deals damage for me.
Since Loda has Renewal 3, it doesn't hurt too bad.
The reason I say Loda will need all of his force
points and renewal is because of the high points of
Force Defence, Lightsaber Reflect and the new
Gimmick of the set, Force Push. Force push 3 deals
30 damage to the target and all adjacent. Then they
are pushed back 3 squares. Note that there is NO
save roll on this. Your enemies are screwed! Lets
hope that you can line up an opponent against a pit.
I was hoping that there would be additional damage
dealt if a fig is pushed into a wall, but no go.
This power is great as it gets you out of an attack
of opportunity if you want to bail out on a duel.
I can see this guy being a huge pain to deal with. I
have had pretty good luck in my matches against him,
but I'm sure it was only luck. Not only can he
immobilize enemy figs, he can hack and slash at them
after! His decent offence combined with his Force
arsenal makes this guy a real beast to deal with. Be
patient, win initiative and shoot at him constantly.
Making him use reflect alot will eat up his force
points. But only for a short time. Use the first
couple of activations to use up his MotF 3 or his
points and then blast him with Boba, Jango, Aurra,
whatever you have. If you can keep him at a
distance, all of his wonderful force powers are
useless.
Rating - 4. Would have been higher if his stats were
too.
Sculpt - 3. Could have been better. Running or an
action pose would have been nice.
