Today we look at the new Luke. He comes so
close to being good. He is one you will keep
picking up and trying desperately to make a good
squad around him because he has such promise.
Sadly, he never quite cuts it.
For a semi-steep 39 points, you have a low 70HP, a
solid 19 DEF, and pretty low +9ATK, and base 20DAM.
The HP need to be a bit higher for a cost like this.
90 would have been a bit better. The attack
really needs a boost as well.
Its his abilities that are really eye catching.
Double attack is very nice, but almost a
prerequisite at 39 points. Accurate shot is a
very nice perk. It will allow Luke to go after
the mid level grunts, which he is better suited to
handle. Careful shot is a great way to boost
his sub par attack into a decent +13, but the
problem is that he has greater mobile attack.
You are not going to want Luke to sit still.
With only 70HP, your opponent is going to try to
take him down early for a quick 39 points.
Stealth helps a little, but without a super stealth
character like Nom or Nyna, it is very hard to make
effective use of it.
He has force renewal, which is good because you are
going to be rerolling a lot of attacks.
Deflect is a must for his cost. It is a nice
way to extend his HP, but you better be rolling a
hot die for it to make much difference. He
also has jedi mind trick, but i have never liked
this power. You just cant get it when you need
it against the characters you need. If you
tack on Mettle, then he might have been good.
100pts: forget it. Luke is far too weak here.
150pts: Same here. He is just too expensive
and does not have the reliable damage out put or
support needed.
200pts: Here you can play him, although i don't know
why you would want to. If they had made Deena
Shan bigger and work in tandem with Luke it might
have been fun, but nope. Throw in a couple
strong Jedi that the Rebels now have access too, and
you can run him in a JIS build where he might be
okay, but in the end he is just too expensive for
what he does - or doesn't do.
