Order 66; Delta Fire Support (republic commandos get
+6 instead of +4 for combine fire); Delta Shield
Support (Republic commandos gain shields 2)
CE: O66 combining fire with another O66 gain +10
DAM. O66 allies with grenades gain grenades 30.
Today we look at the lone Republic addition to
Legacy and a good one at that. Most people were
very happy with the Commandos when they came out.
The republic was hurting for some good shooters.
Add in super stealth and there you go. Well, their
30HP and +9 ATK hurt them a bit. While, their +9 is
still a detractor they got some serious beef through
the RCTS.
The Sergeant's stats are a mixed bag. For 30 points
the 30HP is rather low as is the defense. However,
the perks the RCTS brings knocks these stats into
line. Should you need him to fight, though, he has
a solid +10 ATK for 20 DAM. Not bad for a
commander.
Now for what he brings to his trainees. Delta Fire
Support is meh. Should you need to combine fire,
the +6 instead of +4 is a good thing. The problem
is that the commandos are too expensive to waste
combining fire unless you REALLY need the shot. By
far the biggest perk of the RCTS is his shield
support. The normally fragile commandos now have a
rather large reservoir of HP, depending on how well
you can roll shields. This is huge and makes them
rather beastly to take down. The nicest thing is
that these abilities are exactly that - abilities.
Disruptive has no effect on the shields.
You also have a CE tacked on. Should you need to
combine fire, you get another perk in the form of
+10DAM. This helps lessen the impact of having to
combine fire with a 15-16pt piece. Then you have
the other half to the CE. O66 characters with
grenades get grenades 30. Scorch and the ARC
troopers now have a beastly throw. Run an army of
these guys and watch your opponent spread out to the
max. For this reason most Commando squads will go
from Sev heavy to Scorch heavy with a few Sevs for
back up.
