Today we look at the new Durge. He is a hefty mark
up from the old Durge. Let's see if he is worth it.
For 12 points more, you are getting 10 more HP, the
same defense, and you actually lose an attack point.
That right there is no where near enough, but of
course there is more.
His attack goes from double to triple. That is
always a nice boost. Both have BH+4, so no bonuses
there. That is where the similarities end. You
actually lose flight, which is a huge minus, but i
am not sure i would like flight on this figure. The
new Durge has resilient. This is a nice way to make
him immune to crits without actually having to make
him a droid. This Durge also borrows a trick from
the Magna bodyguards with his lightsaber resistance.
A 21 defense against Jedi isnt too shappy for a
non-Jedi. Jedi hunter is also a nice perk. Against a
unique Jedi, Durge can shoot for an impressive +17
for 30DAM. That is worth a few points to be sure.
Finally both have Regeneration, but the Jedi hunter
has regen 20 instead of 10. That is very nice. Regen
10 is nice on smaller figs, bu ton big figs that are
going to be focused on, it never adds up to more
than an extra shot. Regen 20 can cause some real
problems if you can get Durge hidden and not moving
for a couple rounds.
All in all, i would say the new Durge is worth his
new points, but i wouldnt say he replaces the old
Durge. The old Durge is going to be run more for his
CE where you will want the new one for his fighting
power. He is going to be hell for the Jedi. His lack
of accurate will cause you to need to position him
carefully, but unleashing a triple with his boosts
could be deadly. His big bane of course will be the
non-unique, non-Jedi figs with big defenses.
100pts: With as many Jedi as there are in this
format, i can see him being good here. 90 DAM from 1
triple is nothing to sneeze at, and he will make
most of those shots if he is fighting the likes of
Bane and Vader. You also have enough room for some
solid support.
150pts/200pts: He will do very well in both of
these. San Hill/MTB will work well with Durge as you
can aout activate everyone, set him up and then
unleash a very nice triple. An ASP can also help you
sel him up. Actually, if you want droid support
throw in a bulk lifter for some mega HP/cost love.
You also have Tyranus LotDS for support as well as
the new droids. He is no one man power house, but
build right and he should work very well for you.
Today we review the power shooter of the set. Durge
is a lot like Jango BH but much better. Stats are
about the same Durge has 10 less HP with 110 which
is meh for 51 points but anymore and this guy would
be overpowered even more. Defense is the same for
both at 19, which is average for a shooter at this
range. He loses one attack at +9 but that is very
easily overcome. Stats are good but the abilities
drive this Gendai to places Jango may never see.
With the similarity in stats comes a similarity in
abilities both have JH, BH +4 but then they are
different from there out. Durge gets the upgrade to
Triple. He has Lightsaber Resistance to help him in
case he is based by Jedi. He has regeneration 20
which I cant wait to try out 20 health regained will
really add up unlike the old Durge’s 10. Then Durge
has an ability called Resilient which is the better
part of the droid ability (Immune to critical hits).
Just so you know Resilient only negates the extra
damage from Crits, not abilities that happen on a
crit like flurry or the Big-D. Those abilities all
combine to make one amazing piece.
His weakness’s are in the defense and health
department cause he’s low in both since people can
do 80+ damage a turn consistently now at some
outrageous attack. His faction also hurts him as
Wizards apparently is making them droid based.
Another is not really is not a weakness but a gripe
WHY DOESN’T HE HAVE FLIGHT the old one did and this
still has the Jetpack, erg!!!
100: 5/5 Big shooter, point format where big damage
fast is needed and 49 points for more support (Tyranus,
Legacy ;)
150/200 4.5/5 Here San Hill comes into the fold I
still feel San Hill is the number #1 way to test
your skills as a player and still have a good shot
victory. The only reason he isn’t a five is cause
200 is made up of grunts so Durge may have a tough
time fending of all the grunts at +9 attack
especially the new clones. Still his versatility
cannot be ignored.
