New T.G. support out of the blue, so this week we’ll look at some of the new cards by starting with a retain of one of the better old cards: T.G. Mighty Striker.

Mighty Striker is a Level 2 EARTH Warrior Synchro Tuner with 1800 ATK and 0 DEF. A good ATK stat for Level 2, EARTH and Warrior go well together, and a Level 2 Synchro Tuner is welcome to the archetype. First effect is a Quick Effect in the opponent’s Main Phase to Synchro Summon using this monster you control, getting some interesting Synchros out on the opponent’s turn when they might be more optimal. The remaining effects are hard once per turns, the first letting you search a T.G. Spell/Trap on Synchro Summon, which we just got some in this support wave and they’re pretty good for the Deck. Other effect triggers when sent from the Monster Zone to the graveyard, letting you send any T.G. card from your Deck to the graveyard, which is nice for cards with graveyard effects or monsters to revive with Screw Serpent, Trident Launcher, or Over Dragonar. T.G. has lacked a 2nd Level 2 Synchro for a long time now, not to mention a Synchro Tuner. Mighty Striker helps you continue your combos after being summoned, so a copy or 2 is easy to recommend for the Deck.

I am OVER THE MOON this week as we start our coverage of the T.G. support from Age of Overlord, one of the decks I picked up when I played Yugioh in middle school. T.G. Mighty Striker kicks off the week, a level 2 EARTH Warrior Synchro Tuner monster, with generic requirements of a Tuner and any non-Tuner. In T.G., making it is as simple as summoning any of their level 1 extenders (T.G. Drill Fish and Boost Raptor) and level 1 Tuners (T.G. Tank Grub and Gear Zombie), and their new support makes it extremely easy to weave it into combos as well. If you want to, D/D Savant Kepler also makes it in a 1 card combo, though I don’t recommend it. Surprisingly, Mighty Striker has a decent attack stat of 1800 for a level 2 Tuner (not that it should be fighting), though unsurprisingly it has an appalling defense stat of 0 to compensate.

Mighty Striker has a whopping three effects! It sounds like overkill, but it’s understandable for an archetype as outdated as TG. The first effect is a soft once per turn Quick Effect shared with T.G. Wonder Magician and T.G. Star Guardian, letting you Synchro Summon during your opponent’s Main Phase using it as material. Unfortunately, most T.G. Synchro monsters are not particularly worth summoning on your opponent’s turn, but you can summon generic juggernauts like Baronne de Fleur or Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity, bypassing the dreaded T.G. locks. Mighty Striker’s other two effects are both hard once per turn, the first triggering if it’s Synchro Summoned to search any T.G. Spell or Trap. Ironically, the old T.G. backrow are not actually T.G. cards, so you can’t search them anyway (not that you’d want to). Usually you’ll search T.G. Close for a simple but effective omni negate or T.G. All Clear to extend, as it’s a very strong combo piece we’ll cover later this week. Mighty Striker’s last effect will let you send any T.G. card from your deck to the Graveyard if it’s sent from a Monster Zone to the Graveyard (IE destroyed by All Clear or used as Synchro material). This can either provide more fuel for T.G. Over Dragner (again, covered later!) or send T.G. Close to recycle it later. Mighty Striker is an exceptionally versatile and powerful combo tool for T.G. and gives a big boost; while T.G. still needs help, that’s more on the archetype’s inherent weaknesses than Mighty Striker’s fault.

+Strong combo tool that can be made easily
+Good level for level 12 Quick Synchro summoning
-Foolish effect only has a handful of high-impact targets

Hello Pojo Fans,

T.G. Mighty Striker starts off a T.G. week on Pojo, an archetype I didn’t think would get a revisit.

Tuner Synchro is nothing new but making a Level 2 Synchro isn’t. There are Tokens that can be used for this generic Synchro, as well as T.G. Gear Zombie to Synchro Summon this. Resembling a bigger version of Striker, I’m surprised this isn’t Level 3 to have some synergy with Striker’s Level 2. Synchro Summoning during your opponent’s turn reminds me a lot of Yang Zings. Disruption is the name of the game when you Synchro during your opponent’s turn, and this archetype has a monster that can do that at the end of the week. Regardless of what you Synchro Summon, make sure it can be responsive to your opponent.

Mighty Striker is a searcher upon summon, netting you a Spell/Trap within the archetype. With more useful options now released, this effect serves a better purpose. T.G. All Clear is your Field Spell that gets you another Normal Summon, while the archetype got its own Infernity Barrier in the form of T.G. Close, either are great options to search, but T.G. Limiter Removal may be the best one. Discarding any card to search any 2 T.G. cards in your Deck is incredible. This cards gets you to anything you want and is pretty much always live unless you are without a hand.

T.G.’s like to Synchro climb like other decks and they have the capabilities to do so. A lower Synchro to help with the low Level monsters helps as long as you can get the most out of it. Even if you use Mighty Striker for just the search you are getting your monies worth, but make sure you search the best blowout archetype card.
