Ten Thousand Dragon – #BLAR-EN10K

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by Tributing monsters you control whose combined ATK & DEF is 10,000 or more. If Summoned this way, the ATK/DEF of this card becomes 10,000.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Ten Thousand Dragon is named as it is the 10,000 card created in the game, a great honor.

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set isn’t how you want to lead off ever with a monster’s effect. Gotta tribute monsters on the field that are yours until you hit 10,000 or more in combined ATK & DEF. If you decide to do that, you’ve got a 10,000/10,000 monster on the field that has no inherited protection, it is just a vanilla beater. While it can only take a single Dragon’s Mirror to make a Five-Headed Dragon and then summon this card, not sure why, even with the doubled ATK why you’d trade in Five-Headed with its protection in battle against everything but LIGHT. The only reason why I’d think you’d try to summon this card is to go for an OTK or some cheese play where you block yourself from taking damage and then your opponent takes it all. I feel like Montage Dragon is easier to summon. ATK gain via Levels used x300, may cost you three monsters, but it is from the hand, and Montage is at least Level 8 so Trade-In synergy.

This is a fine card for #10,000. Elegant looking, capable of becoming strong (can’t wait to see Twenty-Thousand Dragon), but I think they could have done something different. You aren’t giving up monsters that have high ATK on the field unless you are dead certain you will win and if that is the case, why give up the monsters in the first place. Effect Veiler and Impermanence erase all your work, while at least Montage filled your grave easier.

The week ends off with a big milestone card in the game, as it celebrates 10000 unique cards in the pool, which is huge. This could of been a cool 10000th review, but that’s too far off, so we’ll use it to celebrate the end of the year. Here’s Ten Thousand Dragon.

Ten Thousand Dragon is a Level 10 DARK Dragon with ? ATK and DEF. The ? I wish was just straight up 10000 but Konami refuses to print a base stat above 5000 still, Level 10 is fitting for Ten Thousand Dragon, and it has DARK and Dragon going for it. It cannot be Normal Summoned or Set and must be Special Summoned by tributing Monsters you control whose combined ATK and DEF equals 10000 or more. Now, you don’t have to get it to be 10000 ATK and 10000 DEF, just the totals of the ATK and DEF stats have to be 10000, so you could just tribute a Five-Headed Dragon for example. It doesn’t need original ATK and DEF as well, so you could get some modifications going if needed. Upon being summoned this way, it’s ATK and DEF becomes 10000, which again I wish was just the printed statline so it isn’t lost when the effect is negated, which I believe that’s how it’d work. Either way, having a 10000/10000 body is insane and only two other cards can get to 10000 on their own guaranteed, Armityle and Number C1000. 10000 is an impressive number still, though it’s now outclassed by Number Ci1000’s ability to get to 100000 if summoned, but that’s super difficult to do anyways, and this is easier in comparison. This has no protection, so you need to make use of that 10000 stat as soon as possible, cause this is target number 1 for spot removal. It is far from a good card, but it’s something that’s fun to pull off at least. It wasn’t meant to be playable anyways, it’s just meant as a cool milestone, and it works for what it’s meant to be.

Art: 5/5 I believe this is supposed to be Chaos Emperor Dragon, which here is a massive upgrade to an already amazing artwork.

Ten Thousand Dragon is definitely the most fun card of the week, and probably also the mots ridiculous.  Level 10, Dragon, ? attack and defense, and only can be Special Summoned by Tributing Monsters whose combined attack and defense is 10000 or more.  Then the attack and defense of this card become 10000.  This could honestly probably be done with only 3-4 Tributed Monsters but I think there’s one key thing people may overlook about this, even though I don’t see it being used much.  It doesn’t say combined ORIGINAL attack and defense.  So you could throw 1 big beast out there and power it up (with other effects or Magic/Trap cards, whatever) and maybe get your 10000 points from 1 Monster.  That would be a lot more practical.  Impractically speaking, of course.  Sure, 10000 attack on one card is awe striking but with zero protection, this is going to fall prey to any and all Monster/Magic/Trap effects, making it just not a feasible play at all.  I thought Time Wizard of Tomorrow was a fun, casual card.  This thing makes that look tournament worthy.

Art:  5/5  LOVE this very much, huge improvement over Thousand Dragon.  Great colors and design here.
