Hello Pojo Fans,
Tenyi Spirit – Mula Adhara ends the week and is the first Tenyi Synchro Monster since Draco Berserker.
Generic materials for a Level 8 Wyrm, Mula Adhara can be your Field Spell searcher if you have two or more Wyrm monsters in your grave or banished. You are likely to use two Wyrm monsters to summon this so there are your requirements, netting you a Field Spell search. Two Field Spells to search in the archetype, each are situational depending on your field at the moment. If you have a non-Effect monster you are likley getting Flawless Perfection of the Tenyi so you can punish your opponent off Special Summon an Effect Monster with a free draw two. Tenyinfinity can be spot removal, get you either of the Dragon Cycle Spell Cards, as well as pop itself to search out Flawless Perfection of the Tenyi and place it on field…Tenyinfinity was one word away from including Yang Zing into their mix if they had switched “Tribute” with “Destroy” for their pop ability.
Back to Mula Adhara. While a non-Effect Monster is face-up on the field (any field) Mula Adhara gains destruction protection against opponent card effects, cannot be targeted by opponent card effects (protecting it from most bounce/banish effects), and gains a second attack during the Battle Phase. At 3000ATK that second battle can mean a chunk of LP goes bye-bye for your opponent, or more if you got rid of the only thing standing in your way of a direct attack using Tenyinfinity and another Wyrm you had on the field.
Level 8 generic Synchro are the easiest to summon, and when the archetype has a Tuner that can Special Summon herself, then give you a potential OTK possibility or just enables one of your Field Spell Cards to do its thing (Wyrm Special Summoned by Suruya can be popped with Tenyinfinity). The search ability of Mula Adhara is easy to come by, the Field Spells can get you advantage no mater which you choose, and Mula Adhara gets better if you have a non-Effect Monster on the field, which is the point of Tenyi…Suruya does all of this for them btw. Draco Berserker may get rid of an opponent’s monster when they activate an effect (though not negate), and is a bruiser for LP damage, the same can be said of Mula Adhara. What it lacks in removal, it makes up with making the Field Spells more usable and making more use of the non-Effect Monsters of the archetype.

New Tenyi support and as much as I would have loved for there to have been a fourth card to do a full Tenyi week, we only got 3, so the other two got cut so the boss monster of the new support can end this week: Tenyi Spirit – Mula Adhara.
Mula Adhara is a Level 8 LIGHT Wyrm Synchro with 3000 ATK and 0 DEF. Strong ATK on a Level 8 Synchro, LIGHT is always good, and Wyrm does have nice support going for it with Archnemeses Protos, Swordsoul, and Ryu-Ge. Materials are any Tuner and any non-Tuner(s), which does kinda surprise me that it’s generic, though it’s much easier to make Level 8s with pure Tenyi since Suruya gives you a Level 4 Tuner to go with the archetype’s many Level 4 non-Tuners since you already had Adhara to go with Ashuna and Vishuda. If this card is Synchro Summoned and you have two or more Wyrm monsters in your graveyard or banishment, you can add a Field Spell from your Deck to your hand. Nice support to use in Tenyi Swordsoul since you’ll likely be able to get the Wyrms you need into the grave or banishment to make this live. You can easily go for Tenyinfinity to search for Vessel for the Dragon Cycle or Heavenly Dragon Circle to continue combos and end on Flawless Perfection of the Tenyi for a draw 2 if the opponent Special Summons and you keep the Link-1 Tenyi on the field. You can also search for floodgate-like Field Spells. Necrovalley will likely be the easiest for you to use since I don’t know if you want to change your Wyrms into Zombies with Zombie World or if you can get to a Spellcaster to keep Secret Village of the Spellcasters live, but those are also options. The search effect is a HOPT, of course. If you do keep a non-Effect Monster on the field, like Monk of the Tenyi, this card gains the effects where it cannot be destroyed by the opponent’s card effects, your opponent cannot target it with card effects, and it can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. Solid protection to give to a 3000 ATK monster, not to mention the double attack to get up to 6000 damage in. You will have to keep Monk of the Tenyi safe to keep these effects alive, though you can technically go for Berserker of the Tenyi for a 3000 ATK non-Effect Link-3. Mula Adhara is pretty solid support for Tenyi and Wyrms in general. It and the rest of the Tenyi support did help breathe new life into Swordsoul Tenyi, so having a copy of this in the Extra Deck does feel nice to have for that Deck with Baronne still gone.

Art: 4.5/5 There’s always been a cool aesthetic to Tenyi as an archetype.

Finishing off the week is a new sub-boss for the Tenyi archetype, Tenyi Spirit – Mula Adhara, a level 8 LIGHT Wyrm Synchro monster that’ll take any Tuner and any number of non-Tuner monsters. It’s completely generic, but oddly enough you’re strongly encouraged to make it in Tenyi since it doesn’t do a whole lot without them; in fact, the card seems specifically designed to prevent you from using it too freely in Swordsoul, which we’ll get to later. As for Tenyi itself, their new card Tenyi Spirit – Suruya should make it pretty easy to make Mula Adhara, and if the conditions are right Swordsoul can still make it as well with Swordsoul of Taia and Swordsoul of Mo Ye. In true Tenyi fashion, Mula Adhara has a solid 3000 attack but a miserable 0 defense! Fortunately, Tenyi’s playstyle means you don’t really lose much to Lightning Storm, so there’s not much harm.
Mula Adhara’s first effect is its sole hard once per turn effect, triggering if it’s Synchro Summoned to let you search any Field Spell, though only if you have 2 or more Wyrms among your Graveyard and Banishment. Yep, that means this card specifically won’t trigger if you try to make it with the Swordsoul monsters, since they use tokens and thus won’t fulfill the requirement of 2 Wyrms on their own. Of course, summoning it later is always and option, which isn’t too difficult because of Swordsoul’s inherent combo lines. The elephant in the room is that we have yet another omni Field Spell searcher. People were initially terrified of the idea of Swordsoul being able to search Magical Mid-Breaker Field (a meme, if I do say so myself) or Secret Village of the Spellcasters (because of Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous and Spellcaster Synchros). However, the best target by far is the new Tenyi Field Spell, Tenyinfinity, which will not only let you search Vessel for the Dragon Cycle or Heavenly Dragon Circle to extend your plays, but also set up Flawless Perfection of the Tenyi for an effective draw 2 and some protection for Berserker of the Tenyi (or Monk of the Tenyi, in Swordsoul hybrids). Mula Adhara’s other effect grants it 3 bonus effects as long as any non-Effect monster is on the field, giving it protection from targeting and destruction from your opponent and letting it attack twice during the Battle Phase. Hilariously, this does give it a minor edge over Primite hybrids like Blue-Eyes, but you’d rather have more disruption than a protected beater. While the Tenyi support in general has unfortunately failed to make its mark in the meta, with the eternal rogue deck Swordsoul still struggling in the current format, Mula Adhara is a step in the right direction for Tenyi and Tenyi hybrids. Grabbing Tenyinfinity makes it easier than ever to search Archnemeses Protos, if nothing else.
+Can search ANY Field Spell, but mostly accesses Tenyinfinity for more explosive Swordsoul combos
+Solid beater on turn 2 or later
-Practically required to make with only Tenyis or later in your combo line because of the Wyrm restriction
-Lacks disruption for a monster meant to have staying power

Art: 3.5/5 Will Monk ever reach nirvana? Probably not until he can use Primite.
