The Eye of Timaeus – #DRLG-EN005
(This card is also always treated as “Legendary Dragon Timaeus”.)
Target 1 “Dark Magician” monster you control; Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck that lists that monster on the field as Fusion Material, using it as the Fusion Material. You can only activate 1 “The Eye of Timaeus” per turn.

Now we look at the classic Legendary Dragon himself: The Eye of Timaeus.
The Eye of Timaeus is a Normal Spell that’s always treated as Legendary Dragon Timaeus, likely to create a “Legendary Dragon” archetype for Legend of Heart to summon the Legendary Knights without changing the anime name we all remember for the three Legendary Dragons. So all this does is target a Dark Magician monster you control to Fusion Summon a monster that lists the tributued monster as material using just that monster as material, which is nice to prevent Dark Magician Decks from running cards that don’t really synergize with the strategy to summon some of Yugi’s classic Fusions. I’m sure players will still throw in a Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Red-Eyes Fusion for Dragoon, but at least you don’t have to play cards like Black Luster Soldier and Buster Blader. As for Dark Magician Girl, since she has Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight as well, I guess that at least gives this card more than one target. You can only activate 1 a turn, which is something I kinda forget since I never resolved more than 1 in a turn. Sadly for the card, it and the Legendary Dragons aren’t all that searchable, which would be a nice boost to the cards if they were. For now, you can play 1 and it will likely put in work, but I wouldn’t call it mandiatory. Hopefully we get the Legendary Dragon searcher one day.

Art: 3.5/5 At least now we got the new Timaeus from Battle of Chaos to see all of Timaeus in his Dragon form.

The Eye of Timaeus saw some niche play upon release, and still can/does in Dark Magician hybrids as a fun alternate Fusion option. You simply Target a Dark Magician Monster (note doesn’t have to be the DM himself) and drop a Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck that listed that Monster as Material on the Field. Like the Seal, you can only use one of these, well, per Turn, in this instance. This may not lead to the most open of Fusion plays, and plenty of y’all playing DM in whatever form know you don’t NEED to be using this for your Fusions as the Fusions it can pull is fairly limited. But it can help if your Deck is more geared towards the Dragons and probably needs to focus on DM a little heavier then some of the other builds. This certainly has a little more use competitively than the Seal, but it’s not always going to be a necessary inclusion for the DM player.

Art: 3.5/5 There’s Timaeus, and his eye, so what else am I really supposed to ask for here?
