Hello Pojo Fans,
The Iris Swordsoul wraps up our week and is another hand trap-style card.
Solid stats, you can Special Summon Iris but it is less flexible than other hand traps. One of your monsters will inevitably get their effect(s) negated, and that is when you drop Iris. Because you need that on the field Iris is less than ideal in comparison to Effect Veiler, Ash Blossom, and Ghost Belle. Once on the field though Iris can garner some advantage as your opponent tries to Special Summon. Immediately you’d think the “Draw 2 cards” when your opponent Special Summons from the deck would be the best, but the Extra Deck is the most likely target to Special Summon from, and being able to destroy a monster Special Summoned at that moment from the Extra Deck makes the whole summon useless for your opponent. They have to deal with Iris before making that Extra Deck summon, or waste the summon and use resources to make another. Matching a Special Summon from the hand with your own is pretty good as well, but destroying a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck as it happens is fantastic. Without priority anything that doesn’t activate on summon is a loss for your opponent. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll be fine with a summon from the deck to get you two cards, but in terms of keeping current advantage on the field/game state, the effect to destroy is best.
Iris Swordsoul could’ve been a great hand trap-style card had it been easier to summon. Sure, you can ditch it with Trade-In and Special Summon it from the grave, but having its own effect could’ve put this card over the top, especially when you take into account the responses you can activate to a Special Summon your opponent makes each turn.

The week ends off learning what Fleurdelis is like under her armor, as she becomes The Iris Swordsoul.
Iris Swordsoul is a Level 8 LIGHT Spellcaster with 2500 ATK and DEF. Decent stats and a good Type/Attribute to have makes for a good start. During the Main Phase, if there’s a mosnter whose effects are negated on the field, then you can Special Summon this card as a Quick Effect. Free 2500/2500 is pretty good and it’s easy to negate an opponent’s monster’s effects with cards like Veiler, Imperm, or Fleurdelis for example. It’s an interesting summoning requirement, I should say. Don’t really see anything like this. Second effect activates when the opponent Special Summons a monster, where you can trigger an effect based on where the monster was summoned from with hand letting you Special Summon a monster from your hand, Deck letting you draw 2 cards, and Extra Deck letting you instantly destroy one of the monsters summoned from the Extra Deck. Three pretty good effects, though in varying quality. First effect could help you make more plays or setup more defense against the opponent, the second option being a draw 2 is just great no matter what, and being able to destroy a monster summoned from the Extra Deck potentially can be useful. It’s pretty niche for this card to come up, but it can be useful and she is searchable being in the upcoming Swordsoul archetype. Try it out and see how she does for you.

Okay, first we’re gonna stare at this picture…and then we’ll do it some more, and then read it, and then look another time and just fawn for a while…
The Iris Swordsoul (even beautifully named) is a Level 8, Light/Spellcaster (both good) with 2500 attack and defense. First is a Quick Effect tied to the Main Phase, where if a Monster had its Effect(s) negated you can Special Summon this. If your opponent Special Summons outside the Damage Step, you get a varying Effect here based on where their Monster came from:
*Their Hand grants you a Special Summon from your Hand. A Special Summon for a Special Summon in this instance is great. Better of course depending on what you’re holding, but getting a free Monster cause your opponent dropped one is awesome.
*Their Deck turns into a Pot of Greed for you, and that might actually be enough to pause your opponent. Sure, we’ve played (and still do) cards that let your opponent Draw 1 card, but giving them 2 free cards is quite a thing.
*Their Extra Deck lets you nuke one of their Special Summons when it hits the Field. That could be messy sometimes given Effect(s), priority, etc etc, but nobody wants to Special Summon from their Extra Deck and see that Monster immediate get taken down like this.
This card is versatile, but SO dependent on your opponent, and more, but I think that’s part of what makes this card so fun. The biggest issue here is, despite the versatility of this card, it might not be as reliable as you want it to be when you need it to be. I’ll freely admit this card seems solid enough, but my rating is going to factor in some potential as well.
