Hello Pojo Fans,

Therion Discolosseum is a RoTA and Foolish Burial/Foolish Burial Goods for the archetype…so automatic three-of in the deck.

Automatic search of a Therion monster when you activate it, making it a great card already. Battle protection once per turn for one of your Therion monsters if you can send a Therion card or Endless Engine Argyro System from the deck to the grave helps to fill the grave with more Therion monsters to target and equip to your Therions in your hand, as well as get EEAS to the grave to cycle back and get a card to your hand.

Getting a Therion monster from your grave to your hand whenever a monster is destroyed by battle and sent to the grave is a slow, but good way to cycle back any Therion monster you want. Both effects of Discolosseum revolve around battle, slowing the effectiveness of the card enough to keep it balanced. In one turn you are capable of searching upon activation, attack a stronger monster to trigger the Foolish Burial of Discolosseum, then attack with a stronger monster to get that card you just sent to the grave (if applicable) back to your hand, or get something else: a deck thin of two and a +2 to your hand. The capability of activating each of the second and third effects together each turn will cycle your Therion monsters from the grave to your hand for as long as you keep the Field Spell safe.

Therion Discolosseum encourages battle to get the most out of its effects. It was worth playing for the search alone, but then it gets better and better as the card goes on. Endless Engine Argyro System can constantly cycle itself back to get you a card, or you can keep going after different Therion cards in your deck. Different situations mean different choices, but you shouldn’t be at a loss for cards.

Next up is an actual Therion Spell to search off Borea, and honestly the best one: Therion Discolosseum.

Discolosseum is a Field Spell that on activation searches for any Therion monster, so another way to ensure you get to whatever Therion you might need at a given moment. It’s a standard Field Spell effect these days in most cases, and it’s nice to see here on an actual Therion card. Second effect is a soft once per turn, triggering if your monster would be destroyed in battle, instead letting you send a Therion card or Endless Engine Argyro System from Deck to grave instead so you can get access to another Therion you might want or get Argyro System in the grave to boost the power of your Spells and Traps. Finally, we get a second soft once per turn that triggers when you destroy a monster in battle and send it to the graveyard, letting you add a Therion monster from your graveyard to your hand, which is fine recovery to have since all your Therions are likely going to have decent enough ATK to run something over and get this effect off. The only negative to previous two effects is that it just triggers on battle destruction, but honestly it’s free effects considering the draw to this is the searching, which is why you can only activate 1 of these a turn. It’s a good Field Spell for the archetype to have for consistency, some protection, and some recovery. It’s a staple for whatever you plan to do with Therions honestly.

Now this Field Magic, is a sure step up from yesterday.  Therion Discolosseum (more on that in the art) is a Field Magic for the Theme.  Free +1 (optional too) of any Theme Monster from the Deck to your Hand on activation.  Anything off activation is great.  Free things off activation are even better.  If your Monster (note this is any Monster, not even just Therion) would be destroyed by Battle (once per Turn) you can discard a Theme Monster or an Endless Engine Argyro System from your Deck to the Grave.  As you see, these guys LOVE to dump and flood the Grave, so that’s a welcome and useful ability as well.  Also, once per Turn, if a Monster would be destroyed by Battle, so long as it goes to the Grave, you can Target and a Theme Monster from your Deck to your Hand.  So that’s a fine enough Effect on its own…but broken down, it’s better.  See, this doesn’t specify any specific type (or Theme) and that applies to Monsters belonging to either player.  So you should have constant use and recycling of the cards you’re dropping/losing to your Grave, which is fantastic.  You can only activate one of these a Turn as well (I guess so if you were to succeed just at the initial fetch, but lose this card, you can’t capitalize anymore of it until the next Turn…and this likely will end up back in your Hand anyway, one way or another with these cards).

Art:  4/5 also…maybe, much like yesterday, I just don’t quite get it…I’m thinking quite logistically about ‘discolosseum’ and I feel that should more represent breaking or deconstruction here (does it?) but it’s pretty enough that I think I’ll let this one go.  (And I could be mistaken).

The second week in a row we’re reviewing a ROTA Field Spell?! Therion Discolosseum is the in-house Field Spell for the Therion archetype, if it wasn’t clear. As typical of Field Spells nowadays, you can search any Therion monster upon activation, so with Terraforming, you can essentially run 7 copies of each Therion monster. Discolosseum’s other two effects are both soft once per turn, though it doesn’t mean much when the card itself can only be activated once per turn anyway. If any of your monsters would be destroyed by battle (not just a Therion), you can send a Therion or Endless Engine Argyro System to the Graveyard instead, which is not only decent protection but great for follow up plays. Considering Therions kind of struggle with swarming, getting more Therions in the Graveyard is pretty helpful, even if it’s not something you can do on command; meanwhile, sending Argyro recycles resources as usual. Discolosseum’s last effect triggers when a monster actually is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, letting you add any Therion monster back to your hand from the Graveyard (Therions sure love recycling, eh?). Notably, it triggers when any monster is destroyed, so you can even activate it yourself by destroying your opponent’s monsters by battle. Recycling is particularly helpful in Therions, especially due to the effect of their boss which we’ll cover at the end of the week. While the battle effects aren’t super reliable, they’re neat bonuses for the grind game; you’ll be running 3 of this card anyway for the search effect, so the other effects are essentially free pressure against the opponent.

Art: 3.75/5 Kinda weird that a Field Spell art focuses more on the lore instead of the location itself, but at least it’s visible (you can see the inside on tomorrow’s card anyway).
