The last of
only 3 new Warlord cards, today we have the Rare
Warlord Character Menacing Mauler.
At a cost of 5 with a threshold of 3, this 5/4/3
Character packs an amazing punch. In addition to
it's solid stats, as soon as a blocking party is
formed, his ability is triggered causing 1 damage to
all blockers. Since triggered abilities can not be
responded to, anyone who takes lethal damage is
toast, end of story.
Know what the Menacing Mauler dreams of? Having a
cohort named Carnival King and facing a Micromajig
army of vast proportions!
Dealing that one extra damage, and to all blockers,
is huge. Just having the ability may cause an
opponent to think twice about blocking at all. Since
it's not uncommon to chump block with a 1 life
Character, now a chump has to have 2 life to protect
your opponent's Influence. With Warlord direct
damage and removal, I can see a Menacing Mauler
facing down a weenie army and hear him laughing all
the way!
Also of note, Menacing Mauler may have the most
disturbing flavor text of any The Spoils card...
In limited, he's first string. In constructed, he's
a definite "3 or 4 of".
