Sarcophyle
Matriculation
COST: Play
this only when you are being attacked. Pick a
character your opponent controls.
EFFECT: If the character would be destroyed
during this battle, instead put it into play

With no more
Sarcophyle characters left, today we try to make
some converts. I give you the uncommon Rogue Tactic
Sarcophyle Matriculation.
As I noted previously, there are only 3 Sarcs in
First Edition. Wouldn’t more be better? I think so!
For a cost of 4 with a threshold of 2, you get the
option of both turning a character AND stealing him
from your opponent. When you are attacked, if you
can destroy an attacking character, play this tactic
prior to lethal damage being inflicted. If you do,
take control of it, make it a Sarcophyle and place
it on your side of the board depleted.
Granted, you have to kill the character (you can’t
just steal him outright) but you’ll have the plan in
place already, so it shouldn’t be too hard. Until we
get more Sarcs, we’ll have to count on this Tactic
to fill our “unbalanced” Sarcophyle troops!
In limited, it’s a bit too expensive to run just to
steal a destroyed character. In a constructed
Sarcophyle deck, it’s mandatory.

Ah,
Sacrophyle Matriculation. The things I've done with
this card. Let's go over the card itself- does that
effect seem familiar? It should as its basically a
watered down version of Vander Malagut's effect.
Except the fact that its a tactic makes it a
surprise that can't be easily planned for. It also
makes whatever character you gain control of a
sacrophyle, but I find that to be a minor point
unless you have Vander on the field.
My story about this card involved me using it on an
attacking Dragon Tank. I then played Scrag on that
Dragon Tank- he had just enough cards in his discard
pile. I ended up winning that game. It's a good
card, but its expensive and requires some support.
Then again, if you can use it on a Dragon Tank,
isn't it worth it?
