doc Today we have the Banker Character Amortized Straw Man.

Upon first glance, a 6/6/3 for a cost of 5 with a low threshold of 2 looks like a sweet beater. Until you get to the text: “This card enters play with 3 tokens on it. This card loses 1 strength and 1 life for each token on it.” Not so great…at least from the start.

The best case scenario I can think of is following it’s play with the Arcanist Tactic Voidal Poisoning. It allows you to spend tokens on your cards to pay for effects listed on it. Do that, and presto!...6/6/3 beater in the house. Plus you could have dished 3 damage or drawn a card and dished some damage, tutored for anything etc etc. Barring that, you’ll have to bide your time and pretty much choose between removing a token and drawing a card, as they both cost 3.

To balance the benefit you’d get from Voidal Poisoning is the Arcanist token generator Insidious Ecto-Manipulator. If you opponent pulls one of those, he can ADD a token to your Straw Man each turn until his life reaches 0.

I’d only use this in sealed play if I had to fill one more character spot. I’d be surprised to ever see it in constructed outside of a creative token deck.

lgmk Armoritized Straw Man

My problem with this card is that it isn't exceptional. For a five cost character, 6/6/3 is exceptional. 3/3/3 is not. An 8 cost character should have more than 4/4/3 just as an eleven cost character should have more than 5/5/3. If the cost is above ten and it's not on par with the 'bomb' tactics or Dragon Tank, I'm not going to use it in constructed. It is simply not going to happen. Now, if this card were in Gearsmith I might consider it. In fact, that's the real place that this card belongs. In Gearsmith. It's effect seems somewhat like Runic Circutry. In fact, its effect goes very well with Runic Circutry. This card might also go well in a Banker/Arcanist cross deck, as long as the Arcanists play four copies of Voidal Poisoning. Now that would be truely awe inspiring. However I would not play the card in a normal Banker deck. I would take Concealed Goon, Mau Tough, or Union Leader over this card.

There is one neat trick you can do with this card though. If your opponent uses a destruction tactic or ability that works with a specific amount of life or strength, activate this card to move itself up a notch. Your opponent will effectively have wasted their card.
