Gold Summit
We start our 6th week of The Spoils CotD with a
first. Our first Location, the Banker card Gold
Summit.
Unlike Item cards which stay in play and give you a
continuous effect, a Location card, which stays in
play and give you a continuous effect, can be
attacked. Usually they give you a great boost of
some kind that makes them an instant target worthy
of waylaying your opponent’s quest to reduce your
Influence to 0. Gold Summit is the perfect example
of such a card.
“If you draw a card, your faction gains 1
influence.”
“So when I get more cards, I get more Influence
too?” Yup! And with all of the Banker draw power;
this Location will need every bit of its 5 Structure
strength to stay in play longer than a turn or two.
At a cost of 3 with a threshold of 3 it’s a bargain.
Now let’s look at some crazy Banker tricks:
How a bout having more than one Gold Summit in play
at once? Perfectly legal! Instead of gaining 1
Influence per draw, gain 2 or 3 or 4! And by the
way, it is per card drawn. If you’re instructed to
draw 2 cards, you get 2 Influence (per GS in play on
your side of the board). A fat Cash Out, Beatrix
Winterbottom, or any other draw inducing card
instantly makes up for the draw back of several of
the Banker Characters…loss of Influence when they
enter play.
In Limited, you have to hold back the big smile
you’d get if you find it in one of your packs. In
Constructed, this can be your get out of jail free
card!

Gold Summit
Three threshold is the only thing stopping this from
being splashed in just about anything with draw
power. One influence per card drawn is just too good
to be ignored. Imagine this with, say Summary
Judgement. The choice becomes even harder as not
only would you be drawing cards, but you’d be
gaining influence. If they don’t destroy their
character, they’re insane. The structure is five,
which is something of a liability. Your opponent
will be attacking this location instead of your
faction unless you are so incredibly low on
influence that they would be able to win the game
then and there. You need to look at this as a
temporary card. It will be attacked and it probably
will be destroyed. Don’t use too many of your
resources to protect it. I’d say that once you’re
above thirty, this card has served its purpose. By
then you should have recovered some control of the
board using the Banker characters that require
influence decreases.
Basically, this card will give you the time you need
to stabilize. It doesn’t win the game, it just gives
you the tools to do it, just like card drawing
engines. Time is just as valuable a resource as
anything else.
Sealed 4/5 This card can easily force a draw.
Constructed 5/5 You need to assume that you’ll have
all the cards to take full advantage of this. If you
have those, you should not be losing the game. You
could easily get up to insane levels of influence.
The sky isn’t the limit, there’s all of space out
there too.
