Today we have the latest in Rogue
surprises. The common Rogue character Unexpected
Boobysnake.
Anyone counted the mammary references
in Part 2?
This 4 cost 2 threshold character
boasts decent 3/2/4 stats and is only one of the 22
Rogue cards with 4 or higher speed, (compared to
Arcanist’s 0, Banker’s 2, Warlord’s 2 and
Gearsmith’s 5). Add to that its ability to be
played at “tactic speed” and we’ve got a winner even
with its extra cost of discarding one card.
Previously, you could do this with Sudden Osprey and
gain a +1/+1 to the character of your choice, or
with Ravenous Wolf for a covert surprise with the
loss of a Deception.
Add these all together and you’ve got
an opponent who’s constantly guessing at what your
next move might be. Since you get the opportunity
to play tactics before you declare defenders, as
long as you have 4 resources open your opponent will
have to consider that you might have a speed 4
waiting in the wings to muck up his plans. Since
there are only 9 non-Rogue characters that can keep
up with speed 4, this is a monkey wrench waiting to
happen.
In limited, it’s one step below
Sudden Osprey which is a 5/5 unto itself. In
constructed, it’s a home wrecker in the right deck.
