Today we look
at the latest in the Banker removal arsenal. The
common Banker tactic Anesthetizing Opulence.
So is that like being so rich you can’t feel
anything or what?
This 4 cost 2 threshold tactic is going to rise
immediately to the top of the 2 threshold Banker
game. Quite simply, pick a character, destroy the
character, your opponent draws a card. When compared
to the other Banker removal cards: Downsizing (cost
10, threshold 4), Executive Poaching (c5, th2),
Irresistible Bribe (c3, th2), Summary Judgment (iffy
and c4, th2), Anesthetizing Opulence best compares
to Irresistible Bribe. Where Irresistible Bribe nets
your opponent Influence equal to the character’s
strength, Anesthetizing Opulence nets them a card
draw. How do you determine which is better for you?
Well I’d say that’s a matter of opinion. Both have
their place, are common and have the perfectly
splashable 2 threshold. Maybe just run 3 or 4 of
each!?!?
In limited, you’d be lucky to see this beyond the
2nd pass in draft and even luckier to find it in one
of your Part 2 boosters for sealed. In constructed,
it might be a toss up for other removal options, but
it will see plenty of play.

Anesthetizing Opulance
I like Bankers. And I
like removal. Hurra!
Today we look at a nice new piece of Banker removal
called Anesthetizing Opulance. I hate when writers
look to the definition of a word to describe its
effect, but this card sure does affluently render a
character insensible- thats dictionary slang for f's
stuff up.
It allows point blank removal of any character your
opponent controls, with the only downside of
allowing the opponent to draw a card. All though I
hate to give the opponent any advantage, whether it
be card advantage, tempo, or field presence,
sometimes killing that Torrential Bleeder or Hulking
Vigilanty is worth the extra card.
In constructed, this card finds a home where
Irresitible Bribe is resisted, as well as alongside
its life giving brethren. In limited, a solid piece
of removal.
