Today we look
at the rare Banker character Class Action Defender.
Without question, Bankers have the best defensive
characters: Blanching Butcher, Dandy Day Trader,
Pettifogger etc. Class Action Defender (CAD) might
be the best yet.
At a cost and threshold of 3, this 2/3/3 can be nigh
bullet proof. With his replacement ability to take
no damage whenever he’d normally receive >4, with
proper planning he can block a massive attack and
live to tell the tale. Here’s how I see it:
You’re attacked by any beatstick of strength 5 or
more, you can live.
You’re attacked by a group of characters of the same
speed who’s combined strength is 5 or more, you can
live.
You’re attacked by multiple speeds, but for each
speed the total strength is 5 or more, you can still
live.
Ah, the beauty of defending! Once you see what’s
coming and make an educated guess as to what effects
your opponent might have in store for you, CAD can
easily be a damage sponge.
And have I mentioned his second ability yet? If
you’re attacked, pay 2 and you may restore him. So
even if he’s been knocked down, you can bring him
right back!
So in the end, what do we have? A character that
will force your opponent to either use up one of
their removal cards or plan around a major pain in
the butt blocker. Both are good for me.
In limited, CAD’s going to be a great asset. In
constructed, CAD is a potent piece of defense and
stall.
