Today’s card
is the uncommon Arcanist tactic Spontaneous
Displacement.
I’ve got to start with the flavor on this one:
“It’s going to get worse before it gets better…Or
maybe it’s just going to get worse.”
Maybe it’s just me, but I can relate to that one!
For a cost of 4 with a threshold of 3, you get
bounce AND a card play. At a cost of 4, this is more
than reasonable. Three threshold will keep it from
being splashed in most cases, but if you’re running
solid Arcanist, this card has to get consideration
for your lineup.
Granted, the free play is based on ˝ the numeric
cost (rounded up) of the card bounced, but chosen
wisely, this card can be a momentum changer. When I
say choose wisely, here’s the “cost analysis”:
You pay 4 to get the effect of Quotidian
Assassination (which costs 2), so as long as you get
to then play a card that costs 2 or more, you’re
ahead of the cost curve and have shifted field
presence +2 to your side.
Remember though, you must still meet the threshold
of the card you get to play for free.
In limited, bounce is the next best thing to kill.
Any kind of board control is always a benefit. Only
its 3 threshold is a detractor. In constructed, tech
is king!
