Today we look
at the uncommon Banker location The Ministry of
Other Smaller Ministries.
One of the 2 most seen locations, TMoOSM will find
itself a target rather quickly. At a cost of 3 with
a threshold of 2, its effect is just too good to
allow it to stay in play for long. With precious
resources at the heart of all things, the last thing
you need is yet another reason to spend them outside
of putting cards into play and using abilities and
tactics. Pay 2 for each attacking party? No thank
you! Its structure strength of 5 will probably keep
it around for a round or two, but any more than that
is just ridiculous.
And the answer to most people’s first question is
yes. Yes, if you have more than one in play, they
are cumulative.
With Banker’s defense and stall abilities already
formidable, this is icing on the stack of money.
In limited, you’re setting your opponent back at
least 2 turns by forcing him away from your
influence. In constructed, you can make matters even
worse!

This is one
of my favorite cards in the game. It forces your
opponent into making a decision- play/draw cards or
attack? More than just a stall tactic this card can
grant you actual field and hand advantage. Your
opponent will attack it before your faction most of
the time, and with good reason. My theory on the
card is that if your opponent spends six resources
on attacks, you've come out even. And I've often
seen this thing draw away many more resources than
that. The real banes of this card are Repo Man and
Dragon Juice. Repo Man is obviously an anathema to
all location cards. Dragon Juice is annoying because
you may let an attack on The Ministry through,
knowing that it will survive a single hit from
Bloodcurdling Bulldozer, only to have it blown away.
Depending on your cast of characters, this location
can work very well with either Arcana Department or
Hangdog Alley. You'll want to pair it with Arcana
Department if you're using cards along the lines of
Ambuscade (Limited), Blanching Butcher, Pettifogger,
or Mafia Lawyer. Hangdog Alley is preferred when you
have Erotic Assassin, or high speed characters.
Constructed, Limited, this card is good everywhere.
Plus, its hilarious.
