Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by card effect. During your opponent’s turn (Quick Effect): You can destroy 2 other Dinosaur monsters in your hand and/or field, and if you do, Special Summon this card from your hand. If this card is Special Summoned: You can send 1 Dinosaur monster from your Deck to the GY. If this card is destroyed: You can shuffle 1 Normal Monster from your GY into the Deck, then you can Special Summon this card. Transcendosaurus Meteorus wraps up this week’s look at Dinos and is an upgraded version of the first card we reviewed this week.
Now with a little more DEF (700) and more ATK (3500), Transcendosaurus Meteorus is a big hitter. Special Summon ability like its previous form, tying into destruction of other Dinosaur monsters to gain advantage. Only being able to use it during your opponent’s turn is still a downside, but it does limit comboing off and the damage it can cause by adding potential resources to your field/hand. Pop two other Dinosaur monsters in your hand or on the field and drop this from your hand will put a huge ATK body on the field to protect your LP or set yourself up at the End Phase of your opponent’s turn. Good disruption effect as you can pop your monsters without losing them to effects that might not trigger their effect(s).
Once Special Summoned, Transcendosaurus Meteorus can Foolish Burial a Dinosaur for you, netting you even more advantage. Easy way to get to Miscellaneousaurus and Overtex Qoatlus which will get you to another Dinosaur from your Main Deck or an “Evolution Pill” in the case of Qoatlus. If destroyed in any fashion, Transcendosaurus Meteorus can shuffle a Normal Monster from the grave back into the deck to Special Summon this card. This effect ties into the need to run Normal Monsters for some of the Extra Deck archetype summons and their lore of being powered-up effect versions of Normal Dinosaur monsters. Faithful tie into the lore, this card excels at being put into Dino Rabbit if you want to get the most out of it.
I can’t see much wrong with Transcendosaurus Meteorus. You have a disruption effect that puts a big body on the field whenever you want during your opponent’s turn. The disruption cost works into the style of Dinos at this point in the game, you get a deck thin that can get you to whatever you want and will likely get you another card(s), and, if destroyed by your opponent or you, you can just cycle back a Normal Dinosaur monster to Special Summon it, which in turn gets you a Foolish Burial. This new support for Dinos is what they needed to revitalize the archetype. It will be interesting if this can bring them back into Tier 1 standing.

The week ends off with the brand new Main Deck boss for the Dinosaur Deck: Transcendosaurus Meteorus.
Big Meteorus is a Level 12 FIRE Dinosaur with 3500 ATK and 700 DEF. Another big Dinosaur of course. It cannot be Normal Summoned or Set and must be summoned via a card effect, so you can use anything that could destroy this really. First effect is a Quick Effect on the opponent’s turn to let you destroy 2 other Dinosaurs from your hand and/or field to Special Summon this card. Another way to destroy baby Dinosaurs, which might be good if the opponent starts the game, otherwise I assume your baby Dinos would of already been destroyed on your turn to allow your plays. Upon being Special Summoned, you can send a Dinosaur from Deck to grave, so another way to get Misc or Overtex into the grave for their effects. Finally, it has the same revival effect as the Fusion, letting you shuffle a Normal from grave into the Deck to revive it. Hard once per turn on each effect. Overall, it’s really just ok. It’s another way to destroy baby Dinosaurs, but it isn’t like the Deck needed more ways to do that unless said card offered something more powerful as a payoff. You can at least summon this for a big body with Petitaranadon if you wanted, but mostly stick to Ultimate Conductor Tyranno as your main boss monster.

Finishing our Transcendosaurus coverage is the formal boss of the Transcendosaurus archetype, Transcendosaurus Meteorus, a level 12 FIRE Dinosaur monster. As it’s obviously way beyond level 6, you’ll have to rely on Souleating Oviraptor to search it, though you can still summon it with Petiteranodon or one of the various Evolution Pills. True to its level, Meteorus has a spectacular 3500 attack, though its defense stat leaves much to be desired at a pitiful 700.
Meteorus can’t be Normal Summoned or Set, forcing you to Special Summon by a card effect. Fortunately, it can be any card effect, including its own, so summoning it isn’t too difficult if you choose to play it. Its first effect is a hard once per turn (like its other 2 effects) Quick Effect that can only be activated during your opponent’s turn, Special Summoning itself by destroying two Dinosaurs in your hand and on your field. Obviously, this’ll trigger your baby Dinosaurs and you can turn it into disruption by destroying Transcendosaurus Gigantozowler, which’ll destroy even more cards when it revives itself. Meteorus’s second effect triggers after it’s Special Summoned, sending any Dinosaur from your deck to the Graveyard. You’re supposed to send Normal Dinosaur monsters to fuel your Transcendosaurus bosses, but you’re probably better off sending something like Overtex Qoatlas to search an Evolution Pill. Finally, like the other Transcendosaurus bosses, Meteorus can revive itself from the Graveyard after it’s destroyed by shuffling a Normal monster from your Graveyard back into the deck. Unlike Gigantozowler, Meteorus doesn’t exactly do much when this happens, so it’s questionable if it’s worth it. Meteorus might have huge combo potential due to popping two cards, but being restricted to your opponent’s turn limits how much you can actually combo, and there are much better combo pieces to search with Oviraptor and Petiteranodon. It’s fine in more pure Transcendosaurus builds, but in Dino piles, I’d avoid it.

Art: 4/4 Is it just me or is that just Xeno Meteorus from a different angle? I guess running gives you 1500 more attack.
