Banish 1 Normal Trap from your Deck, except “Trap Trick”, and Set 1 card with the same name directly from your Deck, also it can be activated this turn. You can only activate 1 Trap Card for the rest of this turn after this card resolves. You can only activate 1 “Trap Trick” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Trap Trick is our Throwback Thursday choice and is another direct way to get to one of your “Attraction” trap cards in the archetype.

Thin the deck with a Normal Trap banish so you can set another copy of that card to the field. Two cards gone from your deck and you got directly to your resource and it can be activated the turn you play Trap Trick, which is also why you are limited to one trap activation for the rest of the turn. Delia and Comica both can get you to your traps as well, but you may not run Delia, and in both cases you aren’t able to activate the trap you set unless you combo with the field spell Amazement Precious Park. Trap Trick also can be used with Arlekino to fulfill the Special Summon requirement while getting you to whichever trap you want. You can target any trap as long as you have two copies of that card, so it doesn’t have to be an “Attraction” trap, it can be Impermanence or Strike, etc. If you have time on your side, you can run a playset of “Trap Trick” and go through them a la Toon Table of Contents, setting up Trap Trick the next turn to go into whatever you’d like (this option is purely for deck thinning).

Trap Trick is a way to get to what you need Trap-wise as long as you have enough copies of the card you are searching.

Throwback Thursday doesn’t go too far back, but it looks at one of the best cards that Trap Decks probably ever received: Trap Trick.

Trap Trick is a Normal Trap that lets you banish a Normal Trap from your Deck, besides Trap Trick, to set a card with the same name directly from your Deck. It’s specific to Normal Traps, but there’s a ton of those that are very good. Infinite Imperm, Torrential Tribute, the Amazement Traps, Paleozoic Traps, etc. The biggest downside is you can’t use this with Normal Traps that are limited, but the only ones are Metaverse and Magical Explosion. Metaverse is fine to not access since we know how good Field Spells can be, and I’m sure people are happy we can’t consistently get to Magical Explosion. You can use the Trap the turn it’s Set, which is very good so you can instantly make use of what you just grabbed from your Deck instead of having to wait. The main downside of Trap Trick is that you can only activate 1 Trap Card for the rest of the turn after this card resolves. It’s fair, but stunning it doesn’t prevent you from using Traps first and then activating this to get to your Trap. You also only get 1 Trap Trick per turn, which is fine. It’s a very good card for any Trap-heavy strategy and something you’d certainly want to have 3 of.

Arrt: 4/5 Guys, you don’t want to fall for the Traptrix.

Trap Trick (Throwback Thursday T4 for short?) is a fun card, one most often requiring a specialized Deck of sorts to truly be effective, but can be a smart players’ piece of Tech, or a Side Deck choice as well.  This is a really simple card.  You remove a Trap from your Deck from play, to immediate Set another copy of the same Trap from your Deck.  Said Trap can even be activated the Turn it’s Set.  What more do you want from your Traps?  This is pretty powerful near instant access, assuming you’re successful, and that’s a power than needs to be respected.  Being locked into Normal Traps surely reduces the power of this card, but only by a bit, it’s actually probably a good thing.  After this resolves, you’re only allowed one Trap play that Turn, all but certainly the one you chose with this, but even so, I don’t see that as any real detriment either.  In a Trap heavy or themed Deck, 2-3 definitely, as it’s only going to speed you along.  If you have room for 1 in your typical Deck, try it and see, or even Side one and try it out!

Art:  3.5/5  Not particularly interesting, but it looks like it’s about to go down.
