Hello Pojo Fans,
Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier wraps up our Ice Barrier week and is the new Trishula for the deck.
Higher level but same generic materials needed, Zero does what the original Trishula does, except it is field-centric. Three cards banished off the field will cripple almost any deck, and while you can’t turn zero this card to hurt your opponent like the original, Zero on your first turn is going to make things rough for your opponent. Zero doesn’t do anything if defeated in battle, but if destroyed by an effect you get yourself a free Trishula with a boost to 3300ATK. This alone is good (despite no activation of Trishula’s effect) but then to halve all the opponents monsters attacks AND negate their effects ensures that they won’t be staying around for much longer. During your turn this effect will result in you continuing your Battle Phase and taking out one of their monsters. During your opponents turn, it will force them to either have an empty field before Zero’s second effect, or to consolidate and rebuild their field after the second effect. Because of the wording on the second effect for Zero, you don’t need to have the original Trishula for the second effect to work, you’ll always be able to halve all the opponents monsters.
With the new Ice Barriers and the support you’ll run in the deck in the forms of Atlantean and Mermail you shouldn’t have too tough of a time Synchro Summoning this card. General, Revealer, and Hexa can make it turn two and Revealer will get you to Hexa. That banish three on the field is what you want most out of this card, but it is nice that if your opponent destroys it with an effect, you get something for your troubles.

While I wanted a Trishula alternate art like we got for El Shaddoll Construct and Winda, I’ll gladly go with an upgraded Trishula with Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier.
Trishula 2 is a Level 11 WATER Dragon Synchro with 2700 ATK and 2000 DEF. Stats get less impressive on Level 11, but still the other same qualities that were good on the original Trish. The summoning requirements remain the same from the original form, needing any Tuner and 2+ non-Tuners, so still generic for anyone to use. When this Trishula is Synchro Summoned, you can banish up to 3 cards your opponent controls. It doesn’t go for the hand or graveyard, but it helps clear the board, which is pretty good. Removing 3 cards for summoning 1 can be very powerful, especially since Trish still doesn’t target with this effect either. This Trishula also has a second effect where if the opponent destroys it, you can summon the original Trishula from the Extra Deck or graveyard and boosts it to 3300 ATK while the opponent’s face-up monsters have their ATKs halved and their effects negated. All these changes are permeant, which is pretty good, especially to get Trishula up to ATK to clash with the big Dragunity Synchros like the lore suggests. You might rather summon the original Trish from the grave with this effect since she is limited and you’d like to Synchro Summon her for her removal effect as well. I guess this would be broken if it treated summoning the original Trish as a Synchro Summon. The only hard once per turn is on the floating effect, which is kind of irrelevant with original Trish being limited currently. It’s a worthy upgrade for one of the greatest Synchros in the game’s history and could likely see play like the original Trishula did. At least Star Eater is no longer the lone good Level 11 Synchro.

Art: 5/5 Now I want to see Zero versions of Brionac and Gungnir. You could even throw in Dewloren as well if you want.

What’s today; Dark Magician Girl? Oh never mind Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier has the same everything has her non zero counterpart. The only difference being you need to build to Level 11 instead of 9. The effect changes slightly to instead of a trifecta nuke hitting everywhere, here, you remove 3 cards from play from the opponent’s Field. We love this is optional (in case their Field is empty, waste as that would be) and up to 3 cards. So if they control less than you can still hit 1 or 2 cards. If you were in a bind, you won’t be after Zero hits the Field. An opponent’s card destroying this card, (any card in any way) lets you get to Special Summon Trishula from your Extra Deck. Its attack becomes 3300, your opponent’s Monster have their effects negated and lose half their attack. I’d like a greater attack body on this, BUT, I do feel powerful cards need a bit of a heel, and that’s enough of one (if at all) to keep a good card from being broken.

Art: 5/5 Trishula deserves her 5 but Zero does too.
