Hello Pojo Fans,
Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray works with the ZW cards a dedicated Utopia player may run.
Three Level 5 monsters isn’t the hardest thing to come by, but you are going to want to skip that and summon this card a different way than intended. Treated as Number C39: Utopia Ray works with it being able to search out a ZW – monster and attach it directly to itself, skipping the need to summon the ZW – monster and gaining the benefits of it immediately, hardly a 1-for-1 for you…oh, and this effect cannot be negated, so this is going to get its equip. Once equipped you gain monster negation power and a Shrink ability on top of that. 2500ATK monsters don’t always need a Shrink ability built-in, but it will come in handy to do some damage. You can use it whenever you like and it is free, even better. This effect is permanent, though you can keep using it on the same monster to keep shrinking its ATK, though one time will likely be enough.
Permanent free effect negation and a direct non-negatable search and attach from the Main or Extra Deck of a monster that will boost your Utopia Ray’s abilities, that makes Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray one of the better Utopia Xyz monsters you could have on the field. The only downside is it has to be played in a dedicated Utopia deck, but it was meant to be that way, so that functions as a restriction as well.

Ultimate Dragonic Utopia Ray was nice, but kinda strange it releases in the same year as a card that’s honestly much better at doing similar things, so here we get Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray.
ULUR is a Rank 5 LIGHT Warrior Xyz with 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF. Okay stats on Rank 5, but I do like LIGHT and Warrior. The regular summoning requirements are 3 Level 5 monsters, but you’re more than likely using a Rank-Up-Magic to summon this, or anything else that summons Number Xyzs considering this is always treated as Number C39: Utopia Ray, making it technically a Number monster. You get a nice soft once per turn to detach a material to attach a ZW – monster from your Deck or Extra Deck to this card as if it was equipped by that ZW’s effect, with this effect’s activation unable to be negated. Epic way to get a guaranteed ZW onto this like Pegasus Twin Saber for some negation, Asura Strike for multi attacking, Lightning Blade and Tornado Bringer for protection, or either of the ZWs in the Extra Deck just for some better stats. Speaking of the negation Pegasus Twin Saber gives, this also has a negation effect with a Quick Effect with another soft once per turn while this is equipped with a ZW monster to target an Effect Monster the opponent controls to negate its effects and halve its ATK. Basically, getting Pegasus Twin Saber on this is 2 free monster negates, which this card on its own can setup if you summon it. Honestly, it’s a pretty strong card for Utopia and a nice monster to use with your regular Rank-Up-Magics to go into. This is likely your go-to for those RUM cards now considering how strong this can be, but only in builds where you’re fitting ZWs into of course, which honestly is worth it.

As we come to more specific Utopia Monsters, here’s Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray, for midweek. Rank 5, Light/Warrior, and 2500/2000 are all pretty standard across the board here. 3 generic Level 5 Monsters for an XYZ Summon, and note this card is always treated as C39 Utopia Ray. Detaching a Material, at once per turn, lets you add a ZW Monster from your Extra Deck or Main to Equip to this, and said activation and Effect can’t be negated. A definite plus, so that’s great too. There’s a handful of these ZW cards and they do varying things, including some protection, so you can Equip as your situation may warrant. A second OPT Effect, this time a Quick also, lets you Target an opponent’s Effect Monster to negate its Effect(s) and halve its attack. So long as you’re equipped with a ZW Monster, of course. Nice compatibility and being able to knock down something you may not have been able to AND ridding its Effect(s) is fantastic. I don’t have to like them, but it’s a good card.

Utopia gets yet another form in Brothers of Legend (and it won’t be the last form we cover this week either!), the aptly named Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray. It’s always treated as Number C39: Utopia Ray, so you can’t have more than three copies among the two in your extra deck, if you ever needed to in the first place anyway. Similar to its predecessor, Ultimate Dragonic Utopia Ray, it’s a rank 5 LIGHT warrior XYZ monster and it requires three level 5 monsters to XYZ summon, though bypassing this shouldn’t be a problem in Utopia decks. Like most other Utopia cards, it boasts 2500 attack and 2000 defense, which is a little underwhelming for a rank 5, but it makes sense, and the effect makes up for it.
While it doesn’t have an innate summoning condition typical of Utopia monsters, Leo is still relatively easy to summon through Number 39: Utopia Double or Rank-Up-Magic Zexal Force, which makes up for the tall order of three level 5 monsters. Both of Leo’s effects are once per turn, though it’s unlikely you’ll summon more than one Leo in one turn anyway. By detaching an XYZ material, you can equip a ZW monster directly from your deck or extra deck to Leo, and gain its bonus effects accordingly. Good candidates are ZW – Pegasus Twin Saber for an additional monster negate on your turn, or ZW – Leo Arms for a massive 3000 attack boost, bringing Leo’s attack to 5500. This effect can’t be negated, which is a little strange but helps. Furthermore, if Leo is equipped with any ZW monster, it can target and quick negate the effects of an effect monster and halve its attack, which is pretty excellent. It’s a great monster to summon in Utopia if you need some offensive power or a little extra oomph on your endboard, even if it does require going a little out of your way to summon.

Art: 3.5/5 Not a huge fan of the proportions that are somehow bulky and skinny at the same time, but I like the hot red color.
