King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Vampire Familiar is a little searcher that helps get your Vampires going. Level 1 for One For One synergy, DARK and Zombie offers more support to Special Summon it, which is the way it gets your search. Off the Special Summon of Familiar, pay 500LP and get any Vampire monster to your hand. With the Vampire monsters being Level 5 and higher this is a great search ability in addition to things like Pyramid Turtle and Goblin Zombie. Familiar can Special Summon itself once from the grave for a Vampire card discard, but will get you back the resource you ditched. Vampire Sorcerer and Vampire Retainer work great with this card, both being able to activate grave effects the turn they are sent. The deck has some good search ability, but this one is pretty good as well. Depending on the build, consider running 2. Advanced-3/5 Art-3/5 Until Next Time |
Crunch$G If I didn’t do the Elemental Lord week a little while back, I’m sure we would be looking at Grandsoil, Moulinglacia, and either Pyrorex or Windrose for the remainder of the week, but since I did do that week it seems we will look at a few random cards starting off with Vampire Familiar. Vampire Familiar is a Level 1 DARK Zombie with 500 ATK and 0 DEF. Stats are what you’d expect for any Level 1. Being a Level 1 Zombie gives you cards like Mezuki and One for One to summon and DARK means Allure of Darkness, a ton of synergy with this one card. If Familiar is Special Summoned (the aforementioned Mezuki and One for One are good for this) you can pay 500 LP to add a Vampire monster excluding Familiar from the deck to the hand. Nice way to get a search for Fraulein or Scarlet Scourge that we looked at last week, but there are also some other good Vampires you can get off this that help you spam the field. Familiar also has its own Special Summon effect, while in the GY you can send a Vampire from your hand or face-up on your field to revive this guy, but banish him when he leaves the field. This should immediately trigger his first effect to search Scarlet Scourge to revive whatever you sent maybe. This itself can also be used for a Link Summon for something like Vampire Sucker. Sucks, no pun intended, you can’t get rid of anything otherwise you can ditch a Mezuki, which all Zombie decks should play. Both effects are a hard once per turn to make sure Vampires don’t get too fast. Familiar is a good addition to the deck to help your plays get going. Play 2 to 3 as well as some cards to get it into the GY. Advanced Rating: 4.25/5 Art: 4/5 Spooky bats. |
Alex Searcy Shifting back to a Vampire for a day, we come to Vampire Familiar. This is a handy little asset for Vampire Decks. You aren’t very likely to attack (or likely defend) with this being 500-0 respectively. But when Special Summoned, by paying 500 Lifepoints, you get to add a Vampire from your Deck to your Hand (other than this card). It’s good you aren’t forced to waste a Normal Summon on this to get that effect, and the 500 Lifepoints is nothing. To further add speed and to continue cycling the Deck, if this card is in your Graveyard, you can send a Vampire from your Hand, or face-up from your Field, to Special Summon this card. If done in that manner, Vampire Familiar is removed from play when it leaves the Field. Each effect is once per turn, but that’s fine. The speed added is good, it works combos by gaining you a new Vampire resource from the Deck. Definitely worth using Rating: 3.25/5 Art; 4/5 Vampires need more bat artwork like this |
