I could argue that this is a variant of the Mystery Booster playtest card Bear With Set Mechanic, but that might be a little bit of a stretch. It might be less of a stretch to compare it to Vampire Nighthawk, as a smaller creature that can exert an outsized influence on the game. A 2/2 for two mana is merely statistically efficient, and her ability is technically narrow, but which opponent is going to want to block her with their variant of Olivia or Edgar? That’s probably enough to be at least a sideboard option in draft, or maybe even Standard.
Constructed: 3/5
Casual: 3/5
Limited: 4/5 (if this is your game text, you really want to be in a draft format named “Crimson Vow“)
Multiplayer: 2/5
Commander: 2/5
I might try and get four copies of this card altered as Buffy, Kendra, Faith, and Kennedy. I mean, they even managed to fit the word “calling” in the flavor text!
Vampire Slayer is the kind of “bear” that can put in solid work in Limited and, depending on the format, some of the lower-power constructed formats. A 2/2 with marginal upside has always been at least playable, and considering all the Vampire creatures running around, guaranteeing their death if they block it (or if she blocks them) is not so bad. She really wished that she had reach or first strike to really make her slaying pop, but even as-is, I can see a home for her whenever blood-sucking perversions are at their most perverse.
Constructed: 2.75 (playable, but unspectacular)
Casual: 3
Limited: 3.5 (bear with upside rocks in Limited)
Multiplayer: 2
Commander: 2
Vampire Slayer
Bad card outside of Innistrad sets, and I’d go as far to say this is a bad card outside of Crimson Vow limited. Bad card, bad design, and it is no niche you might not think of putting it in anything that isn’t in a Crimson Vow limited setting.
Constructed: 1/5
Casual: 1/5
Limited: 2/5
Multiplayer: 1/5
Commander: 1/5
