Vessel for the Dragon Cycle
– #RIRA-EN059

Send 1 Wyrm monster from your Deck to the GY, then, if you control a face-up non-Effect Monster, you can add from your Deck to your hand 1 “Tenyi” monster with a different name from the monster sent to the GY. You can only activate 1 “Vessel for the Dragon Cycle” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Vessel for the Dragon Cycle can be both RoTA and Foolish Burial, but thankfully it can be at least one of them.

Foolish Burial for Wyrms, good support for Tenyi and Metaphys monsters, but it is a better card when you have that vanilla monster on the field. Tenyi RoTA if you have that vanilla monster on the field in addition to the Foolish Wyrm Burial, setting up your graveyard with a Tenyi or Metaphys. This card can put Ajna in the grave to get you a Special Summon of a Tenyi from your deck, Mapura to protect from a targeting effect, Nahata to lower an opponents ATK by 1500, or Vishuda for the bounce back effect. All Tenyi monsters can Special Summon themselves when you don’t have an effect monster, so if you get the RoTA with this Foolish Burial, you could get your Link 3 out if you Foolish Burial Ajna.

This card is a real good setup piece to facilitate plays or prepare your grave. Run in 3’s.

A simple little Spell Card that you need 3 of to get Tenyi going is Vessel for the Dragon Cycle. Noteworthy about this Normal Spell Card is that it is completely free, no cost. It’s also once per turn, but that free Rota status that can be run in multiples is the real upside here. First you have to send a Wyrm monster from the deck to your grave. That’s already a good start since again, it is not a cost to do that. As a bonus, if you have a non-effect face-up monster, you can also search any different Tenyi monster from your deck to your hand. I love that the sent Wyrm does not need to be Tenyi. I also love the advantage that this cycle can begin for Wyrms. As stated, simple and easy. Run all 3.

Next up for Tenyi week is the archetypal searcher card, Vessel for the Dragon Cycle.

Dragon Cycle is a Normal Spell that sends a Wyrm from your deck to the graveyard upon activation, then you can search a Tenyi monster with a different name from the sent monster if you control a non-Effect monster. The dump effect is great to get a Tenyi in the graveyard to protect your big non-Effect monsters you’re likely summoning while at the same time getting to a Tenyi that you can maybe Special Summon and use as Link Material so you can get into said bigger non-Effect monsters. You want to get Berserker of the Tenyi on the field ASAP in the deck while having some Tenyi monsters in the grave to protect it, and Dragon Cycle helps with both. It should be easy to get the search since Monk of the Tenyi is so easy to summon, so no excuse in not dumping and searching with this. You can only activate 1 of these a turn, which seems fair. It’s a great card for the archetype, play three of it.

Vessel for the Dragon Cycle is every bit as combo-tastic as our card from Monday was.  Note of the bat, you can only activate one of these a turn, which I find appropriate.  We start dumping these cards, as well as retrieving them too many times in a turn, we’ll have too much swarming going on.  Too many big and/or Extra Deck plays as well, so we gotta keep that in check.

To elaborate further, as you’ve learned this week, the Tenyi cards dump in the theme, remove, destroy, etc, and this card lets you dump a Wyrm type from the Deck to your Graveyard to add a (differently named) Tenyi Monster from your Deck to your Hand.  You do have to control a non-Effect Monster to activate the latter part of that effect, which also is appropriate to the theme.

Use and abuse this in multiples, I’d go as far as to say in 3s in the Deck.  More speed, more dumping, more searching, there’s nothing not to like about this card (apart from the one use a turn) but again, it’s necessary.

Art:  5/5  No spirit this time, and I don’t know if this was intentional or not, but that totally looks like Broly in this cave (which is drawn and detailed well also).  I don’t find it a coincidence Broly was found/lived in a cave also.
