Ultimate Sacrifice
Today we are going to look at one of the more
costly X-men cards in the WOS set – Ultimate
Sacrifice.
Ultimate Sacrifice is a great way to recover a
multitude of your X-men characters at the cost
of sacrificing an X-men character to the KO
pile. Now the great thing about this card is
that since your characters retain their
affiliation even when they are stunned, you can
sacrifice one of your stunned smaller X-men
characters to recover all of your other X-men
characters. The bad thing about this card is
that unless you have 3 or more stunned
characters on the field, it isn’t worth using
this card.
(Hmmm...did I mention that this card combos well
with Siege Perilious? For every character you
recover using this card, you gain a counter on
Siege Perilious.)
Ok, so this card definitely is not for everyone.
If you are running a straight X-men deck then
you are going to want to include 2-3 of these
cards (especially if you run a lot of little
characters for some reason). Otherwise, you may
find yourself hard-pressed to find a place in
your deck for this card.
Ratings
Constructed – 3.0/5.0 ...This card can be a
great late-game card – provided you have enough
characters that you need to recover to warrant
using this card in your deck.
Limited – 1.0/5.0 ....You will not have enough
X-men characters to validate choosing this
card...unless you plan on using it for trade
bait.

Ultimate Sacrifice
This card is
great in X-men weenie rush decks. The ability to
recover each of your stunned X-men character
with the sacrifice of only 1 is amazing. X-men
and Sentinels need to team up to really abuse
this card. The only other downside is that it
can only be used during the recovery phase. Not
that bad of a downside because if they made it
any different, the card would be broken.
Constructed: 3/5 – Most people prefer Children
of the Atom over this card. Like I said before
though the ability to recover all of your X-men
characters at a cost of KO’ing just 1 is a great
sacrifice indeed.
Limited: 1/5 – No way is this card of any use in
MSM draft. You wont have enough X-men characters
to play it.

Ultimate Sacrifice
Final card of the week, and it's a doozy.
Remember how I said this card combos well with
Siege Perilous?
Well, I wasn't kidding around. KO one X-Men
character to recover every one else...that's
huge. In the late game, if your opponent manages
to stun your board, you just dump your weakest
character, and instant board control. If you
have Siege Perilous out, you'll get a rebirth
counter for everyone you brought back, giving
you even more opportunities for free recoveries.
These two cards have the ability to make X-Men a
top tier deck, we'll see if anyone takes
advantage of them at SoCal in a few weeks.
In Limited, this is a first pick in a mixed
Marvel draft. In Web only, not so much, you've
only got a couple of X-Men to choose from.
Still, with enough of Xavier's students in the
card pool, this is a must-have, even if you'll
probably only have one to use.
