Looks like we are going to start off the week
with the big money card of the set ? Avengers
Assemble.
Avengers Assemble is one of the best search
cards to ever come from UDE. Anyone playing
Avengers (and there are many players who are)
are willing to pay good money for this card. It
is not hard to see why the Avengers team is
easily the best team in this set. To play this
card, simply discard an Avengers leader card.
Now this may seem a little tricky, but in
reality it is not hard to do with this team at
all (especially if you are playing the team
Avengers deck). Simply discard your Wasp,
Captain Marvel, or even Captain America himself
to go get an Avengers character card. Show it to
your opponent then either recruit it or (better
yet) recruit another version of the revealed
character to give that character a +1/+1
counter. What better way to get the ball rolling
than to use Avengers Assemble to get your 6-drop
Captain America and recruit your 3-drop Captain
on turn 3? This card is truly worth the money.
Ratings:
MMA ? 5.0/5.0 ?The only way this card could suck
is if you do not build your deck with enough
leader cards.
GA ? 5.0/5.0 ?This card is a great search tool
in any format.
Limited ? 3.0/5.0 ?I have actually known people
to pull this card and not be able to play it due
to lack of leader support.

2 would have been nicer...
Ongoing: No
Only fair.
Effect:
Discard any character (of any team) who has the
Leader attribute to get any Avengers character,
as well as a 1-turn boost of +1/+1.
Not bad for a day's work.
Team Affiliation: Avengers.
Alright, now that I've done the team affiliation
lists (should be added to the site soon), I have
a better understanding of the Avengers, and I
like what I see.
Lots of the new Reservist attribute can be seen
in this team, as well as some nice effects. You
can grab anyone from Rick Jones to Iron Man,
Invincible (my favorite) to Thor, God of Thunder
or anyone else you may need, thanks to this
baby. Guaranteed to be a must-have card for any
Avengers deck.
Overall:
Ditto. Expect the cost of this card to
skyrocket. It's well worth the cost (as long as
it's under $15, I hope - in vain, I;m sure).
5.0/5.0
Modern Age:
A must have for any Avengers deck, but useless
without them, which hurts it's overall
usability.
4.0/5.0
Golden Age:
Not usable here, but...
4.0/5.0
Limited:
You should be able to get enough characters to
use this, so take it.

OK. These reviews are not the best as i still
have yet to find a list for this set, so i dont
knwo of any combo's yet. This is pretty much
your standard character search card that a great
deal of team affiliations have with a couple of
differences.
First you have to discard a leader card. This is
a bit more specific than a character in general,
but i'd assume that there are enough leaders to
make this card playable.
Its the second effect that will bear watching.
In a curve deck this card will generally be
better saved for later drops where every point
counts, as +1/+1 isnt much by itself. Yet if
used right, some of the characters for Avengers
are so big as it is it will just add to your
opponants misery, especially if its stacked with
any leader abilities. The drawback is that you
have to not only summon the same character (by
name) as the one you just searched out, but it
must also be that turn for that turn only. I'm
not sure what army characters if any are in with
the Avengers, but if teamed up with a swarm deck
similiar to Sentinels, this could add multiple
+1/+1,, but i'm not sure thats possible without
getting VERY creative.
The main reason you are going to see this card
played is for the searching ability. The +1/+1
is just a perk for the turn.

Today is one of, if not the highest, money rares
in the set, Avengers Assemble! It's a undisputed
staple in any deck that involves Avenger Leader
characters in it, which will be in virtually all
Avenger decks.

Initative Preference: None
Avengers Assemble! at first glance is a standard
searcher akin to Signal Flare, Bat-Signal, and
the like. However to play AA is a bit harder
than most searchers but you get paid off better
when you do use it. Discarding a Leader
character card from your hand makes it so you
can't team up Avengers with just anyone to use
the searching ability. For now, you're stuck
with just cards from the Avengers set card pool
to discard to AA's cost. Of course, with this
restrictive cost, there is an upside of the
+1/+1 counter that you receive when you recruit
a character with the same as the card you
searched for. Captain Marvel can become a 10/10,
Hulk can be a 18/18, and so on. The extra +1/+1
does go down in effectiveness as the game gets
to the later turns, but it is always a little
boost that never does hurt.
Marvel Modern Age: 4.5/5 The leader discard
could be difficult to pay sometimes, but you
should be playing good leader cards all the way
through your deck anyway if you play AA.
Golden Age: 4.5/5 See Modern Age.
Sealed: 2.5/5 Much harder to use here with
little leader characters that you'll pull.
