Lonar - Explorer
Hmmm....Today we
are going to look at a card that is not too
shabby at all. Lonar has a really nice
ability - provided you do not mind stabbing
yourself in the foot a lot. You see each
opponent plays with the top card of their
deck revealed, then by paying three
endurance, target player puts the top card
of their deck on the bottom of their deck.
The only downside to this card is that your
opponent will now know what is coming at
them. Better yet, if your opponent has a
card that you do not like, you can now put
it on the bottom of the deck where it
belongs. Just make sure that you use this
guy's ability wisely...3 endurance loss can
add up really fast...especially on later
turns.
Ratings:
NG Constructed -
3.5/5.0 ...You run a big risk of sinking
yourself with this card...
Limited -
4.0/5.0 ....Being able to determine what
your opponent plays is great...but it is
extrememly important to safe gaurd your
endurance in this format

Lonar, Explorer –
Another card manipulator like the Prankster.
However, Lonar sports the New Gods team
affiliation. One thing I don’t get with some of
these New Gods cards are that in their artwork
they appear to be flying but their card ability
does not include Flight. Go figure.
Anyhow, Lonar is a solid 7/7 for a 4 drop which
is a little above average as many for drops are
6/6. His ability makes your opponent play with
his top card of his deck revealed. You can then
pay 3 endurance and your opponent then puts that
top card on the bottom of his deck.
Constructed: 2.5/5 - I would probably go with
Izaya, High Father as my 4 drop but Lonar is a
decent backup. It can be useful to see what your
opponent has coming up in his next draw phase
and if it is something you don’t want him to
have then pay 3 endurance. However don’t use
this ability if your opponent has way to draw
cards in response to you using Lonar’s ability
(like any Gotham Knights deck).
Limited: 4/5 – His decent stats make him a
viable attacker but his ability can really screw
your opponent. For example if you see that your
opponent has his 5 drop as the top card of his
deck, pay the 3 endurance and then that card
goes to the bottom of his deck and hopefully he
wont have another 5 drop to summon.

Lonar, Explorer
This ends my week of picking cards, and Lonar
follows the theme of cards that you probably
wouldn't build a deck around, but that can mess
with you opponent enough to possibly give you an
edge. Bewing able to see the top card of your
opponent's deck is nothing new, Night Vision has
been around since Marvel Origins. Being able to
bury that card at the bottom of your opponent's
deck, now that's something worth looking into. 3
endurance is a small price to pay to bury a
Savage Beatdown, or even just to screw your
opponent out of his next drop. With the number
of cards in this set that allow you to replace
your opponent's resources, Lonar's ability lets
you wait until you can do the most damage by
replacing an essential plot twist or location
with a character.
You aren't limited to using his power once per
turn either, if you're willing to pay the
endurance then you can mill through his deck all
you want. His stats are decent, 7/7 with no
flight or range, and no Loyality either. Lonar
won't make the cut in a lot of decks, but there
are a few that will be able to make some use out
of his abilities.
In Limited, the opportunity to disrupt your
opponent's curve is huge. Get rid of their next
drop, get rid of the one great rare plot twist
they got a hold of, get rid of the Metropolis
they were counting on, or just keep getting a
sneak peek at what they're about to draw. Lonar
is a decent pick, probably about 7-10th into
your pack. There are a better 4 drops out there
though, and try to stock up on those before
looking at Lonar.

The Demon's Head
This card is
virtually required for League of Assassins.
They need their resources with all the
non-unique ones they have, and this card just
goes and gets it. Exasting 1 LoA character is
no problem at all for a full blown Location
tutor. If you're playing LoA, this is a must.
It's not as good in Limited, but I would have a
hard time not playing it if I had a couple of
decent locations, especially Metropolis.
