Zero Hour
To continue on 9 cost week, today we are going
to take a look at a 9 threshold cost PT - Zero
Hour.
For me personally, if I was going to play a 9
threshold cost PT it would probably be Gamma
Bomb. Outside of that, however, I would probably
take this card. Like all other 9 threshold PT's
you are definitely going to have to build your
deck around this card. That means this card will
definitely take a beating in limited rating.
However, this card can be effective in a
constructed deck. Just think about it...if you
are running a GL deck you have the potential to
inflict major damage to your opponent - then you
can attack! I don't really see this card being
played outside of a fun deck due to the speed of
the metagame, but I have a feeling this card
will be fun nonetheless.
Ratings:
DMA constructed - 2.5/5.0 ....This can be an
effective card, but you have to build your deck
around it.
GA constructed - 2.0/5.0 ....I am not sure that
willpower decks will be able to stall as
effectively as other stall decks that are
currently being played
Limited - 0.5/5.0 ....Either you will not make
it to turn 9 or you will not have the willpower
needed when you get there.

Zero Hour
– Today we are reviewing the set’s
only 9 drop Plot Twist. In fact
Zero Hour is one of the only 9 drop
Plot Twists in Modern Age format.
The only other 9 drop being Gamma
Bomb from the Marvel Origins set.
Basically you want to play Zero Hour
with a Willpower based deck. Also
Zero Hour goes hand in hand with
Friday’s COTD. Other than that if
you don’t plan on playing with
Willpower characters then Zero Hour
is absolutely useless.
Constructed:
3/5 – Play it only if you are
playing with Willpower characters
duh. And this card increases to a
4.5 and gamebreaker when combo’d
with Hal Jordan-Parallax.
Limited:
2.5/5 - Chances are unless you were
able to draft some more powerful
Willpower characters that by Turn 9
you wont have any to really make a
difference. If you can get real
lucky you might be able to pull it
off.

Name: Zero
Hour
Type: Plot Twist
Cost: 9
Rarity: Rare
Card Text:
"Play Zero Hour only during the combat phase.
Each of your opponents loses X endurance, where
X is the total willpower of characters you
control."
When I see this card is a rare, I get a sick
feeling in the pit of my stomach. I know I'll
pull as many of it as I did Last Son of Krypton
in the DC Superman set…I had to start giving
those away.
This card is a lot better than that one, though
(but that's not really saying much, is it?).
It's just that it's a 9 cost plot twist. If
you've taken even a brief look at this set,
you've probably noticed that a lot of characters
have a "Willpower" statistic. Get to turn 9, add
those numbers up, each of your opponents loses
that much endurance. Play multiple copies of
this, and your opponent could easily be at about
negative 100.
This isn't team specific, and it works on all
your characters, teamed up or not. That's always
nice. That means that if you can actually get to
turn 9 in a limited format, it won't matter that
you have several different teams on the field.
Getting to turn nine, though, is quite a task.
This card would likely need a deck built around
it, and unfortunately, the best stall deck to
date is mono-Doom. That's unfortunate because
mono-Doom wouldn't have any characters with any
willpower, and therefore, this card would have
little to no effect.
Stick this card in your binder, and leave it
there.
DC Modern Age Constructed – N/A – Haven't seen
enough of the set, or it's interaction with
Superman.
Golden Age Constructed – 1.5/5 – Might as well
be modern age, since it's dependent upon
willpower. If you can build the right deck
around it, though, this card will win games.
Limited – 1/5 – Would be lower, but I'm scoring
these on a 1-5 scale.
Don't play this in limited. You're just not
going to get to turn 9.
Sorry.
