Professor Ivo
It's Unaffiliated Week, a decktype never played
and made even more useless by the announcement
of the Silver Age format, which takes away Mojo.
Professor Ivo: Good news, you can search for an
unaffiliated character card. Bad news, now you
have an unaffiliated character card in your
hand. This gets you Mojo, then becomes a
liability. Evasion doesn't really have a reason
to exist on him, except maybe to keep him around
to pump Mojo I guess. Makes Unaffiliated's curve
a little smoother, assuming you have him in hand
on Turn 2, otherwise you defeat the purpose of
playing him. Not that good in Sealed either,
unless you have no other 2 drops and really want
to play Amazo on 8.

Unaffiliated
2 drop

F/R: no
EVASION. When Professor Ivo comes into play, you
may discard a card. If you do, search your deck
for an unaffiliated character, reveal it, put it
into your hand adn shuffle your deck.
YAY! JLA brings some more help for the
Unaffiliated decks. And some big help it is too!
I picked this week's cards because unaffiliated
decks, for the most part, have ben ignored,
despite having some real powerhouses. While I am
the only person around here that plays an
unaffiliated deck, there are some big cards in
this new set for anyone who has tried or wants
to try it. Today's card is one of the best new
characters.
Ivo is your standard defensive 2 drop being a
2/3. He also lacks flight and range. So far no
big deal. He does have evasion, though. This
mean he should be able to hang around with your
3 drop til Mojo comes out, who can then laugh in
feral rage sabertooth's face.
This character's big help comes with its effect.
It finally gives the unaffiliated decks a chance
to search for other characters. The downside is
that it is on a character and not a plot twist,
so after turn 2 you have to small drop to use it
and also discard a card, but with Mojo on turn 4
small dropping is not always a bad thing.
Besides lockup and puppetmaster you now have a
very good two drop for the unaffiliated decks. I
would definately run four as any search helps.
This is a character you really need to draw
early.
Having played quite a bit with my unaffiliated
deck i can say that when I curve I rarely lose
even to the tier one decks, but when I don't
curve, I get slaughtered. Having any search
ability is huge, so Ivo is a big help to the
unaffiliated decks. On Wed we will review a big
location, and friday we will look at a very
solid plot twist.
