Kate Spencer
<> Manhunter
Today's COD choice came down to T-Spheres or
Kate Spencer, but since Kate fits in with the
idea of the 'Identity theme', I figured she was
the better choice. Equipment is pretty
self-explanatory anyway...right?
Kate Spencer gives characters you control +1
attack while attacking characters with a greater
cost. She also allows you to attack a hidden
character with a character which has a lesser
cost. This card is slowly making the rounds in
many off-curve decks and it is easy to see why.
With cards like Enemy of my Enemy, this card
becomes an easy search and it is a great way to
tech against hidden characters while getting an
attack boost.
Ratings:
DCMA constructed - 3.5/5.0 ...This character is
essential in a JSA off-curve deck of any type.
GA constructed - 3.5/5.0 ...This card allows you
to tech against hidden characters without a
significant drawback.
Limited - 4.0/5.0 ...Not only can you get to
those stubborn concealed-optional characters,
but you can also attack up the curve with this
card.

Kate Spencer,
Manhunter
We're ending our week of "Attacking up the
curve"
cards with Kate Spencer, Manhunter. She's a
modest
3/2 that gives all of your characters a +1 ATK
while attacking up the curve. While free pumps
are always welcome, her other ability is what
really makes her an MVP in this kind of deck. By
using her Free power, you can let your
characters attack one character in your
opponent's hidden area, but only if the hidden
character costs more than your attackers. If
you've been building a deck specifically to
attack up the curve, then your guys should have
no problem taking down the offending character.
Even better, it prevents your opponents from
being able to park a really annoying character
in the hidden area and keep gaining benefits
from it without any drawbacks. In Crisis, you
specifically want to get rid of Ahmed Samsarra.
Good Guys and Identity builds will want to get
rid of Kang Cobra, so that they can trigger
their Ally abilities again. In Sealed, you can
target Calculator, Evil Oracle, and keep him
from pumping the rest of the Villains United
characters on the board, or take out an annoying
Checkmate character like Valerina Vostok or
Amanda Waller. She's a solid pick in Draft, even
if you aren't playing heavy JSA, just to allow
your smaller drops to take out a big drop with a
team attack. She's definitely a nice tech play
in this format.

Kate Spencer
<> Manhunter
Listen up people. If you are reading this, I
urge you to go to the Pre-Release tomorrow. It’s
going to be so sweet and Galactus is going to be
awesome. I know I’m going…

Oh, jeez, I’m so preoccupied and excited about
Galactus that I don’t even think I can review
this card properly. Okay, stay focused.
This card is tech, because of the ‘attack
hidden’. But otherwise, I much prefer Sandman.
Or otherwise, use her in a Manhunter army deck.
She’d be much better there.
DC Modern: Tech 3/5
Silver Age: Tech 2/5
Golden Age: Tech? 1/5
Overall: 2/5
Oh have you seen the new 3 drop Dr. Doom? Do you
realize how cool that card is?

Team: JSA/Manhunter
Type: Character (2 drop)

Atk / Def: 3/2
Rarity: Uncommon
Text: Characters you control get +1 ATK while

Flavor: "There aren't many of us left. At the
end of all this, I may be the only one."
On either team, this character can help out.
Manhunters can use the push when swarming, and
JSA has a lot of pluses when seeing higher
characters. Unlike the other cards this week, we
have something that works well when attacking.
+1 is not a huge deal, but a lot better than
nothing, more so when everyone gets it. 3/2 at
her drop is normal, if not a little better than
average.
Being able to also attack hidden characters is a
plus.
I can just think of better people out there to
use. On the other hand, it's not a poor card
choice at all.
