New Recruits
Basics: Today we are going to review the new
search card for Legionnaires: New Recruits.
Simply by tossing a Legionnaires character you
get to go search for a cosmic character card.
Constructed play: Well this card is
team-stamped, but the good news is legionnaires
and legionnaire variation decks will consist of
pretty much all cosmic characters...it is a
win/win in a way.
Limited play: If you have the legionnaires
characters and this card then good for you.
Otherwise the team-stamp on this card is going
to hose you in the end. It is all about what you
pull....
Ratings:
DCMA constructed - 4.0/5.0 ...If you are playing
Legionnaires, you should be playing the
Legionnaires search card...
GA constructed - 4.0/5.0 ...See above
Limited - 3.0/5.0 ...Since it is team-stamped,
you can really only expect about a 50/50 chance
of using it at best...

Bloodhound.
Join the Club. Sovereign Superior.
Three cards from the X-Men set that allowed you
to discard a character from a specific team
affiliation in order to search for any character
with a specific keyword. Now New Recruits is the
newest member of this club, allowing you to
search out any character with Cosmic for the
cost of discarding a Legionnaires character
card. Legion/Heralds decks will be packing
4 copies of this, no doubt, as it'll search for
just about anything in the deck. It works well
for Legion limited formats too, as a healthy
amount of the characters in the set have Cosmic,
and there are plenty of Legion characters
floating around for you to discard to it.

New Recruits
Sweet the card that I get to review won my
Birthday is pretty good. With Mobilize, I
personally didn't know of this card's existence
until I looked it up for today's review
assignment and its very nice. A nice plot twist
with a cost of 2 and with the additional cost of
discarding a Legionnaires character card you can
search your deck for any character card. This is
a nice tutor, one of the few tutors with a cost
low enough to actually search for a 2 drop on
turn 2. If you are playing Legionnaires then
just about every character you have has cosmic,
and you aren't even limited to Legionnaire
cosmic folks. This is good for a solo Legion
team, or legion team-ups with other teams with a
cosmic theme such as Heralds of Galactus.
Golden Age: 2.5/5 A good card but in this
format, its playability is too dependent on
quality and presence of Legionnaires and cosmic
characters. Doesn't really have much against
EoME and Mobilize.
Silver Age: 4/5 A good searcher in a more open
and diverse format. If you run Legions and
cosmic this card is as effective as EoME and
Mobilize with a fraction of the cost.
Modern Age: 4/5 Like Silver, but less broken
cards like Dr. Light.
Limited: 4/5 Many many characters are cosmic in
LoSH and I think Legions is a strong team. A
quality searcher like this that isn't too narrow
is very playable.

New Recruits
Another tutor. It’s no Mobilize, but it’s
something.
New Recruits
Plot Twist/2
As an additional cost to play New Recruits,
discard a Legionnaires character card.
Search your deck for a cosmic character card,
reveal it, put it in your hand and shuffle your
deck.
It’s the Legionnaires tutor. And we already know
my policy on tutors, but in case anyone’s
forgotten, they are a staple to the decks they
belong in.
DC Modern: 5/5
Silver Age: 5/5
Golden Age: 5/5
Overall: 5/5
I still don’t like Legionnaires…
