Cloak - Child
of Darkness
This week we are going back in time to discuss
some cards that we missed the first time
around...to start, let's take a look at an
interesting 3-drop from MMK - Cloak.
Cloak is an interesting 3-drop. I am not
necessarily a big fan of concealed characters
because they open up your field. The only reason
why you should ever run a concealed character is
1.) it is a 1-drop that is only going to get
smashed later on, 2.) opening up your field
isn't such a big deal since you are able to use
your concealed characters to smash your opponent
into the ground (AGL), or 3.) even though it may
be a concealed character it has one heck of an
effect. Cloak certainly doesn't fit 1 or 2 and,
in my opinion, only barely fits 3. Since all you
have to do is activate this card to exhaust an
opponent's 3-drop, UDE decided to give this card
some strong setbacks. First of all in order to
even get this card on the field you need to
reveal a MK character from your hand. This is
pretty easy if you are running MK, but this card
really shines in a multiple variation stall deck
- which means you better have your team up
early. Second, you can't really use this
character for offense. With stats of 7/4 this
character is considered weak at best (especially
since X-men hit the scene).
Bottom Line - Unless you are going to run a
multiple variation stall deck, don't bother with
this card.
Ratings:
MMA constructed - n/a
GA constructed - 2.5/5.0 ...This card doesn't
belong in this format.
Limited - 2.0/5.0 ...This card's recruitment
cost is too high to justify for this
format...Only take it if there is nothing else
available.
