House of
Secrets
It's Friday, and we're closing out Secret Six
Week with a look at House of Secrets. House of
Secrets is a nice little card with some combos
and some uses both in and out of a Secret Six
deck. Most of the Secret Six characters are a
little undersized, so you'll probably wind up
taking a lot of breakthrough before you can set
up for your crucial turn to win with Secret Six
Victorious. House of Secrets lets you turn
unwanted character cards or unused resource
points into valuable endurance. Two points of
endurance is nothing to write home about, but
four points can start to add up, especially if
you're gaining every turn.
With something like Mr. Mxyzptlk's ability to
bounce back to your hand every turn, it turns
into four endurance with no drawback. It also
wouldn't be bad with Masters of Evil, which
excels at generating resource points to use for
costs.
House of Secrets really shines in Sealed, when
your hand will be full of extra characters, and
the extra endurance can make the difference
between winning and losing. You also underdrop a
lot more in the Limited formats, so the extra
resource point won't be wasted if used on House
of Secrets. Of course, it's better spent on
something like Thangarian Invasion, but you
don't always have that. It's a location to run
in a Checkmate build, too. It also combos well
with a card I like to pick up late in a draft,
Return of Donna Troy. This plot twist allows you
to bring a character card back from your KO'd
pile to your hand, making it great for feeding
House of Secrets, or for getting back powerups,
etc.
