Blinding Rage
We finish off the week with a card that seems to
be the obvious replacement to Savage Beatdown,
but…
Blinding Rage
Plot Twist/3
Target attacker you control gets +4 ATK/-4 DEF
this attack.
…is that it? That’s like, average. And it’s a
money rare. Granted, you can use it one turn
earlier, but that’s it? I mean, we’ve
encountered many power ups in the game of VS.
Savage Beatdown, Mega Blast, Trial By Fire,
Cosmic Conflict, All Too Easy, heck, even a
regular Flying Kick that can do the same, if not
a better job than Blinding Rage. And with the
exception of SB, those cards are all common.
Sure, you could kick off a Vengeance ability,
but if your attacking up the curve, that -4 DEF
shouldn’t really matter anyway.
DC Modern: I suppose this is feasible, seeing as
there is a lack of some
power ups. 4/5
Silver Age: Not bad, but there are better cards.
3/5
Golden Age: Flying Mega Savage Beatdown Blast
Kick! 2/5
Overall: 3/5
Like I said, average. It’s not bad, just
overshadowed.

Blinding Rage
Rush decks love this card. Sending small
characters up the curve, then attacking directly
with the rest, is what the archetype is all
about. If your 2 drop is going to stun your
opponent's 4 drop, then odds are that your guy
is taking a stunback. Since that's the case,
then -4 DEF isn't going to change anything. The
+4 ATK, on the other hand, is going to ruin your
opponent's day, and probably keep them from
seeing Turn 6. However, with a threshold of 3,
you'll need a variety of cheaper pumps to help
dish out the early beats. Anti-Green Lantern
decks love this card, as the -4 DEF insures that
an AGL or Xallarap will be stunned during an
attack. Not a whole lot else to say, either your
deck needs it, or it doesn't.
In Limited, if you pull it, play it. Not many
folks will expect such a large boost, especially
since Blinding Rage is a rare. In Sealed, it's a
decent pick, especially if you're early in the
pack and haven't committed to a specific
archetype yet. Extra attack is always welcome,
especially if it lets you go up the curve a spot
or two.
