Roll Call
Roll call is an interesting card, simply because
it is a decent cycling card that also provides
endurance gain. Of course if you want to put the
card into your deck simply for one effect or the
other, you should probably tweak your deck, but
it is still interesting nonetheless. Personally
I have never really seen the point to this card,
in a variation deck you will probably Kooey,
Kooey, Kooey over this card and in a straight
JLA deck you will probably want to curve out
rather than off-curve so the endurance gain will
be mute. However, I am not totally anti-Roll
Call either...to me it makes decent filler.

GA constructed - 2.5/5.0 ...You don't want
filler in this format unless you are playing for
fun.

Short one
today folks, there's an ice storm moving in, and
I'm trying to skip out early.
Today's we're looking back at Roll Call, an
unobtrusive plot twist from the JLA set that
gained some notoriety by becoming the lynchpin
in a deck that played multiple weenies, used
Detective Chimp (now banned) to make them all
JLA, then gaining massive quantums of endurance
and stalling out either to time, or to a Captain
Marvel win. It was a DC Modern deck, and
although it could possibly find a home in a
Faces deck, the loss of Detective Chimp makes it
a lot harder to gain the endurance necessary,
plus Faces is a quick kill deck anyway. Drawing
and discarding two cards is nice, as it allows
you to dig for answers and load up the KO'd pile
for Steel, Slaughter Swamp, or anything else
that you'd need. The Roll Call deck may yet come
back when Silver Age rolls around again, but JLA
will have rotated out by the next Modern Age,
and the deck is just too fragile for Golden Age.
Rating: Eh, let's go 2/5
