The Outsiders
have a great team attack theme, much like Teen
Titans before them. Batman and the Outsiders
allows them to maintain board control, since if
you're sending all of your characters in on one
team attack, that leaves all of your opponent's
other characters open and safe...or so they
think. BATO allows you to send the whole team
into one character, then bounce another
character back to the opponent's hand. Combine
this with cards like Katana-2, which let you KO
a character stunned by a team attack involving
her, and that's two characters completely off
the table.
It's a risky card to take in draft though.
Without much search available, it's hard to get
enough characters in hand to make the team
attacks worth it.
Even if you already have a lot of Outsiders low
drops drafted, it's unlikely you'll get to use
BATO. I drafted an Inmates/Outsiders deck, and
even if i had enough team attackers out, my
opponent might not even have a drop small enough
for me to BATO, making it a dead card. Not bad
in constructed though, and possibly better if
Outsiders are teamed up with Titans or
Legionnaires, to take advantage of Superboy-4.

Batman and
the Outsiders
I actually didn’t have any of the Outsider rares
in my CC deck. But I sure could have used a
Recruiting Drive. Or this card.
Batman and the Outsiders
Plot Twist/3
Play only if you have played no other plot
twists this turn.
Return target non-defending character to its
owner’s hand if its cost is less than the number
of Outsiders team attackers you control.
Making characters disappear outside of battle is
always worth a look. This card is very doable in
an Outsiders deck, having upwards of 6 or more
characters on the board.
The problem is, I don’t want to send 5
characters into one, just so I can return a 4
drop. I can probably take care of that 4 drop
with just 1 or 2 smaller characters, and still
have a couple of characters for pummeling. In
sealed, I doubt you’d get enough characters to
do it, but if you do that would no doubt win you
the game out right.
Sealed: 3/5
Constructed: 2/5
You’re better off teaming up with Revenge Squad.
And using Fatal Weakness. Like I did.

3 cost Plot Twist
Play only if you have played no other plot
twists this turn.
Return target non-defending character to its

I'm not to sure I like this card much. First,
you can't have played any other plot twists this
turn. You can play some after you play Batman
and the Outsiders, but not before. Second: How
many team attackers are you going to have? At
best, you'll be returning charcters with a 1 or
2 cost on a regular basis, assuming you are team
attacking with 3 or more Outsiders.
I'm open to comments about this. I like to know
when I'm in the wrong. Feel free to email me
comments or flames at:

Sealed: 2/5 You probably won't see enough
Outsiders to team attack with in here.
Constructed: 2/5 You can usually find better
plot twists than this, unless you plan on having
alot of team attackers on the table. I just
don't see it being realisticly usable. |

Batman and
the Outsiders:
Sealed: 3
Constructed: 5
Here's a tale of two cards. On the Sealed
format, this card can be useful or not, depends
on what you draw. With a good number of low drop
characters, this can be useful. In a constructed
deck, especially if you get paired up with a
player trying to last until later rounds to drop
his major 8 or 9 drop behemoth down to clear the
board, this card can be huge. Build a deck with
an abnormal amount of low drops, 2s, 3s, and 4s.
When you're playing they guy that is delaying
the game as long as possible, wait for the big
guy to drop. Play as many cards as you can, team
them up and get the big guy off the board, then
finish him off.
This card can be a difference maker, for sure. |
