Well, as
exciting as yesterday's World's Finest preview
was, we've still got some MTU cards to look at
before the next set is released. I'm trying to
pick cards that will make an impact on the next
PC, and I think Hulk will be a big draft player,
and might even make his way into the Constructed
decks.
His stats are great, 16/16 is about as good as
it gets for a 7-drop. Crime Lords isn't a
well-represented team at all, but Hulk's effect
is what I want to focus on today. A good
off-initiative 7-drop is hard to find; although
Constructed games tend to go quicker than 7
turns, this format has enough stall that Turn 7
may shop up more than you expect. Hulk combos
well with one of my other favorite cards from
MTU: Poker Night. Exhaust someone for Poker
Night, Activate Hulk, and send your opponent's
7-drop (assuming they play one) to their hand.
If they're team attacking, you can bounce either
of the attackers, and the other one is all but
guaranteed to get stunned. It's an unexpected
play, and it forces your opponent into
uncomfortable attacks, and that's always in your
advantage.
He's even better in a Limited format, simply
because he's a huge beatstick on your
initiative, and because of his effect on the off
initiatives. Let your opponent waste some attack
pumps trying to swing into Hulk, then use his
effect to bounce the character and render those
plot twists useless.

Hulk
Oh come on, how can you do this to me? Got me
all excited reviewing Scarecrow, now we’re back
to old cards?

Reservist
Activate > If Hulk is defending with
reinforcement, return target attacker to its
owner’s hand.
He’s big. His ability certainly fits into the
Crime Lords mechanic of looking out for one
another. But his ability is iffy. I don’t want
to be bouncing characters on turn 7, I want to
win on turn 7.
Oh, and I don’t know too much about Crime Lords.
So, this review is going to be a tad short…
Modern Age: 3/5
Silver Age: 2/5
Golden Age: 1/5
Overall: 2/5
I still like Hulk…

Reservist
Activate >> If Hulk is defending with
reinforcement, return target attack to its
owners hand.
I'll start off by saying once again
that I love the Reservist ability, especially on
the higher cost cards. This makes it so that
they aren't just dead weight in your hand.
So, this Hulk is a 16/16 for 7. Sounds about
average to me. Reservist makes him that much
better for his cost. His ability can be pretty
cool, as well. Just make sure that he is
reinforced. Not hard to do. :) Returning
target Attacker can be amazing... if you don't
have the initiative, you can seriously ruin your
opponants day.
Sealed: 4/5 He's big and a reservist. This
makes him worthy of being played in sealed in my
book
Constructed: 4/5 This Hulk is strong if you
have the initiative, and a MAJOR deterent if you
don't. He's what a turn 7 should be. Scary
cool. |

Crime Lords
“Ain’t he unglamorous?”
-Theme Tune, Awful 60’s Hulk Cartoon
Once upon a time the Hulk turned grey and tried
to be some kind of clichéd 1940’s era gangster.
Yeah I can tell you’re excited.
When Hulkie defends with reinforcement you can
return target attacker to your opponent’s hand.
Hokay. They won’t see that coming a mile off.
And crime lords are a great choice for a silver
age team. Plus flight and range are over-rated.
Plus reinforcing a 7 drop isn’t a total waste of
time. Some of those sentences might have been
sarcastic, I repeat might have been.
Basically you have a second rate stall card,
with a useless team affiliation.
Hooray!!!
Sealed: 1
Constructed: 1
