Well, as
exciting as yesterday's World's Finest preview
was, we've still got some MTU cards to look at
before the next set is released. I'm trying to
pick cards that will make an impact on the next
PC, and I think Hulk will be a big draft player,
and might even make his way into the Constructed
decks.
His stats are great, 16/16 is about as good as
it gets for a 7-drop. Crime Lords isn't a
well-represented team at all, but Hulk's effect
is what I want to focus on today. A good
off-initiative 7-drop is hard to find; although
Constructed games tend to go quicker than 7
turns, this format has enough stall that Turn 7
may shop up more than you expect. Hulk combos
well with one of my other favorite cards from
MTU: Poker Night. Exhaust someone for Poker
Night, Activate Hulk, and send your opponent's
7-drop (assuming they play one) to their hand.
If they're team attacking, you can bounce either
of the attackers, and the other one is all but
guaranteed to get stunned. It's an unexpected
play, and it forces your opponent into
uncomfortable attacks, and that's always in your
advantage.
He's even better in a Limited format, simply
because he's a huge beatstick on your
initiative, and because of his effect on the off
initiatives. Let your opponent waste some attack
pumps trying to swing into Hulk, then use his
effect to bounce the character and render those
plot twists useless.

Ego Gem
Best gem ever made…
Ego Gem
Unique/Infinity Gem
Equipment/0
Whenver equipped character becomes stunned, you
may return Ego Gem to its owner’s hand.
Equipped character has “Activate > Draw a card.
Use only during the combat phase.”
Equip it to your 1 drop or your free character,
and draw 3 cards every turn. And never lose Ego
Gem since it always bounces. Goes great in any
deck. Goes wonderful on a character with
Evasion, making Ego Gem indestructible.
Acceleration is good.

Wow... sorry
about missing yesterdays review. On with todays!!!
Ego Gem (Unique, Infinity Gem)
0 cost Equipment
Whenever equipped character becomes stunned, you
may return Ego Gem to its owners hand.
Equipped character has "Activate >> Draw a
card. Use only during the combat phase.".
Holy Handgrenades, Dr. Strange! Wow.
This is a pretty freakin' awsome card. I mean,
like WOW. I need 4 for each of my decks. I
find myself sitting here re-reading it, trying
to see what I'm missing. So, you equip it to a
character and activate that character to draw a
card. Thats it. No drawback. It costs 0 to
play. TOO good. And if the character is
stunned, you can return Ego Gem to your hand?
What is up with that? Skull Clamp anyone??
Card draw in this game is sparce, at best. This
card is great. I love it. OK, so you can only
use it during the Combat phase. That is a
pretty weak drawback.
If there is something that I'm missing here,
please feel free to email me at:

Sealed: 5/5
Constructed: 5/5
No matter how you cut it, free card draw is good
in any game. |
